Good morning everyone hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Today’s post is on how to style culottes, now I normally don’t tend to gravitate towards them. However when I saw this pair my intentions were to have them taken up into a Bermuda style. I find then to be much more flattering and they don’t shorten my leg.
So once this pair arrived I had all the intentions of getting them tailored, but so many people told me not to do it. So I didn’t, I found that it all comes down to the style and styling of the culottes. For me the culottes work rather well when they are paired with some sort of heel.

SHIRTS AND CULOTTES
Let’s begin with the shirt and culottes look. Personally for me a pair of high waisted culottes works so much better and are flattering on me. Now this pair that I am wearing I did get it altered, the waist was too big. The tailor did a fantastic job as you can’t tell the difference. For me it feels and looks hundred times better! So when it came to styling I opted to go for a monochromatic look. First I took this sheer shirt and tucked it into my culottes, but then I changed my mind and decided to make it a little cropped so did a style hack.
To make the outfit look more polished I threw on this gorgeous cardigan. The ecru on the cardigan works beautifully with the culottes. Next and onto my shoes and here I went for my white mules as they give that slight elevation. As for my sunglasses yes it’s those cat-eye sunglasses again! Finally completing the look with a pop of colour with this green bag.
LONG SLEEVE TOP AND CULOTTES
My second outfit styling with culottes is with a long sleeve top. Now you could have a roll neck but make sure it’s light weight for spring summer. A Breton top works really well giving you that French Riviera look. Next add some espadrilles to add elevation as well as giving you that spring summer vibe. As for a bag I would go for a basket or wicker one in some sort. Finishing the look with a pair of big black sunglasses and a boater hat to complete.
T-SHIRT AND CULOTTES
For a more relaxed look why not opt for a shoulder padded t-shirt. The shoulder padded t-shirt gives the look a little more structure and stands out then your basic tee. Now I would style mine with a pair of espadrilles again but you could switch them for a pair of tan coloured sandals should you choose to do so. Moving on to bags and here I would choose a tan coloured bag.
Culottes are very versatile and can be worn all year round. You could easily transition them into autumn winter by adding a sweater and a pair of knee high boots.

It was a good call not to get these tailored. The longer length is actually quite lengthening especially the way you styled them with heels.

I have a few pairs of clothes from Zara. Same design but in different colours. Interestingly I have the same black top and wear them together. Though Not as sexy as you wear yours.

I love culottes and I’m still looking for the perfect pair. I’m head over heels with the one pictured on the far right of the first row of suggestions. Lovely, you could wear darn near anything and be stunning. I’ll admit, I am having a time getting used to culottes, but I’m trying. It probably has to do with the time I grew up, (the 1970s) and we were abhorred if someone wore “flood pants”. LOL! Your purse is so cute! Love the color.

Perfection…again!! Love that there is just a ribbon of skin showing and the hint of more beneath the sheer sleeves of that gorgeous blouse. My husband teases that I wore culottes on our first date. I assure you if I had shown up looking like you do in yours, it wouldn’t have taken us 5 years to get married!!
