The Easiest Way to Style A Neutral Outfit

Good morning everyone and happy Friday. Today’s post is on styling a neutral outfit. I do love all things neutral, natural, chic and effortless. Of course I also love to wear a little bit of colour now and then and that’s never going to change. Personally I like to mix it up, what about you?

Neutrals can be be worn by anyone, it’s easy, versatile and can look super chic depending on how you style it of course. Take a scroll down and take a look at few pieces that can make a neutral outfit.

DRESSES

Let’s start off with dresses, a neutral dress can be styled so easily with boots, trainers, mules or heels. For a head to toe neutral outfit team your dress with a pair of shoe of your choice. The dress that I am wearing is from H&M, it’s from last year. The paisley print on my dress had a little brown on it and I picked that colour for my belt so that it ties in with the overall look.

As for my shoes I am wearing my faux pearl mules from Mimi’s Edit. Now for those of you living in colder climate opt for some boots in the same tone as the dress. Layer up as much or as little as you want, then throw on a coat in either white or ecru and you are all set.

TOPS

Tops in neutral are another basic to have in ones closet for an all neutral outfit. They are great to mix and match with trousers, jeans, shorts and skirts. Take a beige shirt and team it with an a-line skirt in the same hue. Next put on some knee high boots again keep to the same tone if possible to give you that sharp crisp chic look. Now depending on how cold it is either drape a blazer or a coat to complete the outfit.

BOTTOMS

Another piece of item to have in neutral would be bottoms. Again these pieces are very versatile and can be worn with so many other items of clothing. Take a pair of neutral trousers style them with a shirt of some sort. Then add some trainers for a dressed down look. Next wear a blazer and add some accessories. For a night out go for a dressier top and some heels, finally drape a coat over you shoulders and you are already to head out.

BLAZERS

Next and onto a blazer, this is a key piece of item to have in neutral as you can wear it with just about anything. Great with skirts, jeans, trousers and even shorts. Now for me I love to style a pair of Bermuda shorts, a bodysuit, a blazer and some mules for a daytime look.

How would you style a neutral outfit? What are the pieces you have in your closet? Do let me know by leaving a comment below.

I like to mix and match my neutral tops with jeans and OTKB or sneakers. I don’t have much of a dress when it comes to neutral dresses though. I adore this paisley print dress from H&M on you and those shoes with the pearl details is stunning.

I have learned over the years how important it is to have a good solid base of neutrals in one’s wardrobe (especially one like mine, which is full of colour). Like you, Lovely, I also look to the pattern to pick out colours for my accessories. I’d also do burgundy with this pretty dress, but I think you are right to stick with brown for the belt.
