Good morning everyone, todays post is on wearing a formal jumpsuit to prom. Now as I sit here and look out the window, the sun is shining brightly and it defintely feels like spring! Now that I have given you that bit of information lets get back to the post. I adore wearing jumpsuits in general and If you are brave enough to go for a formal jumpsuit to this year’s prom, I say go for it. One can only assume that you’ve successfully adorned a jumpsuit on several occasions, and would like to turn some heads at the most social of all occasions of all – the prom. However, there are a few mistakes that can be made wearing such an outfit, and with that in mind, here are some things to avoid when wearing a formal jumpsuit to the prom dance.
Poor Sense Of Proportion –
If, for example, you have great legs, and are not so comfortable with going tight around the midriff, then go tight on the legs and have a loose top, which will look proportionate. If, on the other hand, your not comfortable with your legs, then baggy trousers and a more defined top would make you appear more in proportion.
Not Drawing Attention To Your Waist –
A jumpsuit is designed to show off your curves, and without a stylish belt, or perhaps a silk sash, your shape will not be emphasised, and the whole look is lost. If you have yet to acquire the jumpsuit, check out the 2019 prom dresses you can buy at Peaches Boutique, a leading online boutique that has a great collection of designer name dresses, all at affordable prices. You really do want to stress the hourglass figure when wearing a formal jumpsuit.
Wearing The Wrong Shoes –
Your shoes must be the right height, not too high or low, and by having a dress rehearsal a few days before the dance, you can experiment with different shoe heights. Ideally, the hems of your trousers should almost touch the floor, which might mean making some minor alterations with the hemline.
Don’t Be Too Matchy –
You might be tempted to match your accessories to the jumpsuit fabric, which was all the rage in the 1980s, yet being too matchy will take the focus off you. Add some colour with jewellery and perhaps a bag, and avoid using the same shade as the jumpsuit. For more great make up ideas for prom, a quick search on Google should lead you to websites offering some inspiration.
Wearing The Wrong Jewellery –
Don’t overdo your accessories when wearing a formal-looking jumpsuit, and keep to no more than 3 items, which might be earrings and a slim bracelet or a few bangles in different sizes. You might want to consider an “up” hairstyle, which goes great with the straight lines of your outfit. Bobby pins can help keep your hair in place. Adapt a style that allows you to pin your hair on the top, which won’t be seen by your friends.
Finding the right jumpsuit is a lot easier if you buy from an online boutique, as they would have an extensive collection of trouser suits, both formal and informal. Don’t be afraid to experiment with both accessories and hairstyles, and with a little luck and a lot of perseverance, you will get it right on the night.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read my fashion post. Please do leave a comment below.
Wow, you slayed all 3 looks. My favorite has to be the second look which accentuates your waist and the lacy details on the jumpsuit. I totally agree about the jewelry and your “up” hairstyle is perfection. I have one casual jumpsuit which took me forever to find. Thank you for sharing these great tip. I will keep this in mind when shopping for my formal jumpsuit.

These are great tips for wearing a jumpsuit. Wearing a belt is always a good idea because it attracts attention to our waist. I think a nice jumpsuit can be a great choice for the prom.
You look fabulous in these jumpsuits, I especially like the lace one!

You wear jumpsuits so well! Sadly they are not something I can pull off being petite, I never fit into the measurements, haha! 🙂

Jumpsuits are nice to wear but the only problem is when it comes to visiting the washroom, everything will have to come down. You look gorgeous in your jumpsuits, I love the lace one especially. Lovely tips, it’s been so insightful. Thanks for sharing.
