Happy Halloween everyone, today’s attire is based around this oversized bag. Now let me tell you a little back story about it. I bought it whilst I was on holiday in Rome many years ago. My reason for purchasing it at the time was, “Oh this will be a perfect bag for all the baby stuff I need to carry around.” Wyatt was nine months old at the time, now did I use this bag for carrying any of the baby things that I thought I would. The answer is NO, I must have only used it once and it wasn’t for carrying baby things.
Since then it has been sitting lonely and unused at the back of my closet for many years now. I think it’s the perfect time for this red oversized bag to make an appearance. Now tell me how many of you have been guilty of something similar to this?
In Mum life this week, Wyatt is off to one of his friends for Halloween. He is very much looking forward to it and is going as a killer clown as I couldn’t manage to find a Pennywise children’s costume. There are plenty of adult sizes available but unfortunately for me not in the children’s size. I was going to get one shipped from the U.S. But after seeing the shipping price I decided not to. Anyway he doesn’t mind so that’s a relief. Wish I could say the same for Zeke he wants to look just like Pennywise. So after hours of trawling through the net I have managed to find something as close as possible which he is happy with and one that will turn up on time! Eli is also off to a friends and is less bothered about his costume and will wear a mask.
Right getting back to fashion and to oversized bags which are going to be a huge trend, excuse the pun in SS19 just like the Jacquemus oversized hats. So with that in mind I thought I would style an outfit based around my oversized bag. Also at the same time I wanted show you how I put together an outfit with old season garments. I am a firm believer in buying clothes that last me the test of time and ones that I can wear year after year and which still look fresh and new by giving it a slight twist.
Let move onto my ensemble at hand and to my red oversized bag. This bag is from Guess and as I mentioned earlier I bought it on holiday in Rome years ago. It is nearly ten yeas old and still looks brand new after sitting in it’s duster bag for all these years.
Next I decided I would style it with my red Karen Millen dress which is also from a previous season. A beautiful fitted pencil dress that I absolutely adore wearing, the tan coloured belt came with it. I have worn this dress out many a times and still get compliments on it till this day. Karen Millen always do a slight variation in this style of dress each season, so you are bound to find one that suits you. Take a look HERE!
Taking the cue from tan belt I opted to style my tan wedges with this ensemble. These are from Zara and are also from an old season, I can recall the first time I saw them whilst I was walking passed the Zara shop and I spotted them in the window in the corner of my eyes. So I rushed in and bought them, knowing fully well that I was not going to be able to wear them for another six months as I was pregnant with Zeke at the time!
Moving on and onto my red trench from Karen Millen. This is from last year and I thought it would be ideal with this ensemble, as it keeps with the red theme that I have going on. A gorgeous trench with a high collar worn or thrown here over my shoulders.
As for the finishing touches I wore the shade Teddy Bear from Lime Crime Veletines on my lips. And finally finishing off my look I grabbed my sunglasses from Poppy Lissiman which are in the style Le Skinny and in the colour red/aubergine. So there you have it an ensemble made up of old season items given an updated look with an oversized red bag!
