Good morning everyone hope you are all well. Back from a wonderful vacation/holiday with the family. It was a scorcher out there in Cyprus to say the least. At the same time here in the UK we have been having a heat wave too.
So with that in mind I opted to wear a shirt dress in this hot weather. This Self-Portrait shirt dress is just ideal and absolutely gorgeous in my opinion. Shirt dresses are versatile, stylish and above all, easy to style. Therefore making any morning routine quick and easy with no little-to-no thinking. What’s more and of course more importantly, they will keep you cool in this sweltering heat, whilst looking effortlessly put together.
In Mum Life, the boys had an amazing time in Cyprus! The place is just beautiful and peaceful too, we picked the right place to stay away from all the hustle and bustle of all the tourists. Eli’s highlight was playing tennis, swimming going for walks on the beach and skimming stones into the ocean. He also enjoyed venturing into Polis for Lunch.
Wyatt too enjoyed swimming and playing tennis. He specially enjoyed our walks on the beach at sunset as it was much cooler then. However, his favourite thing to do was going to the nearby bakery with his Papa early in the mornings, whilst the rest of us were still sleeping. I have mentioned previously that he is my early riser.
As for Zeke he loved the beach although rather cautious about the waves in the evenings he too enjoyed skimming stones. He enjoyed playing tennis and swimming in the pool with his brothers. His favourite thing was as a family when we went to lunch talking about the Marvel Universe. Such a huge fan of all the comics and the movies too! Next on the list to watch is Ant Man and The Wasp!
Lets get started onto this beautiful and unique striped cold shoulder shirt dress with lace cape from Self-Portrait. This dress is from a few seasons ago and I was so lucky to have found my size. The demure white canvas collar sits atop a dramatic sheer black guipure-lace overlay, and button-fastening side slits complete the slim silhouette. Finishing off with pockets, of course I adore that! Who doesn’t love a dress with pockets?
If you haven’t already seen the new season collection from Self-Portrait then take a look (here). I have so many items that I would love to purchase, of course I can’t get them all. The collection is so gorgeous, don’t take my word for it, just take a look for yourself!
Moving onto my shoes and I opted to pair the shirt dress with my black Espadrilles. These are from Zara and in this high wedge style with the tie ups. Personally for me Summer and espadrilles go hand in hand. Anyone else feel this way, or is it just me? I must admit I wasn’t walking in them for long as we drove to the restaurant and back. The dress can easily be paired with some flats too, which of course would be ideal if you intended on walking for a long period of time. Switch the wedges for a flat pair like these from Manebi at Net-A-Porter.
As for my bag I couldn’t resist my Bamboo coffer bag from Mango. Such a cute little bag which is so on trend right now, and a perfect vacation bag. Although any variation of straw bag would work rather well here. The bag has a pretty blue and white inner lining, adjustable and detachable long strap. The design of the bag is very rigid and sturdy in the bamboo material. I have opted to wear it without the strap here, I wanted to show case the dress and not have to wear the bag crossbody. Which I would normally do.
Next I wore my Le Specs Rapture cat-eye sunglasses which are a must here. One of my favourite pair of sunglasses and to top it off they are very affordable too! I have a thing for cat-eye sunglasses and can’t wait to add a few more to my collection. The Saint Laurent pair here at Net-A-Porter is on my list at the moment. Although these are on the pricier side, I have also had my eyes on the Poppy Lissiman Skinny Demon sunglasses which come in a variety of different colours (here).
Finishing off the look, I wore Lime Crime Velvetines matt liquid lipstick in the shade Teddy Bear. A beautiful shade of mauve nude which you know by now is my current favourite and I have been wearing it on repeat for the last month or so. I’m one of those people who once I find my perfect shade of lipstick I wear the life out of it. Thats how it should be in my opinion.
My nails are in the shade (I Believe In Manicure) in the Tiffany blue from OPI. So you may have noticed me wearing this shade. Such a pretty colour for Spring/Summer. I absolutely adore wearing this colour so much and tend to change between this blue and the white shade (Alpine Snow) during the summer months.
Here are few more suggestions of shirts dresses:
Wear them with white trainers for a more for some meandering:
How about some Wedge Espadrilles for an evening out:
If wedges are not your thing then here are some flats for a more relaxed look:
