What To Wear For Valentine’s Day

So what is your perfect Valentine’s Day? Are you one of those people who adores it and has the reservations set for a romantic night out. Maybe you are that person who likes to stay in for a cosy meal for two or one even. Or are you swapping Valentine’s Day for ‘Gal-entine’s Day’ this year and opting for a night out on the town with your girlfriends.

Whatever you decide to do there’s no denying that Valentines Day is the perfect excuse to put on a cute outfit whether your hitting the town or staying at home. Now to try and figure out what to wear as we know dressing the part can make all the difference specially on a night out.

Before I had children and in the early stages of our relationship, we used to go out for Valentines Day. As the years went on we did not put that much emphasis on Valentine’s Day. We went out on a regular basis and for us one day out of the whole year to celebrate love didn’t make sense. Therefore there would be years when we didn’t go out. Of course that was fine with us as we stayed in and enjoyed either a cooked meal or a take away.

Now a days with the boys we celebrate Valentine’s Day together with them as they love to get involved. We tend to order a take-away and watch a movie together, all of us huddled together on the sofa. Or we all decide to go out as a family.

This year we have decided to go out and for that reason I have opted for this gorgeous black flared knit midi dress from Karen Millen. There are so many pieces in this collection that I want to get my hands on. As always Karen Millen is always on point when it comes to occasion wear and this seasons collection is no different. I have been shopping at Karen Millen for nearly twenty years and the quality of their garments has always been second to none. They are my first stop when it comes to shopping, whether it be for work wear, occasion wear or for their coats. You really can’t go wrong in my opinion.

What ever you decide to this Valentine’s Day, there is an outfit for every one. If you are planning a night out like me then check out their fabulous dresses for SS18. I opted for this black knit dress as it is the perfect outfit for every occasion, you will feel flirty, fun, and sexy no matter where the night takes you. It is fitted through the waist which has these cut-out details on either sides of the dress. Which shows off that slight bit of skin to give me that edge and sexiness I am looking for. Fitted all the way down and flaring out below the knee in a peplum style. I adore the full length sleeves and the crew neck. It comes in the Karen Millen signature stretch knit yarn which is not restricting at all giving you excess room should you require it. There is no fastening on the dress and it is very easy to wear all you have to do is just slip it on.

On to my accessories, firstly my black Kurt Geiger ankle shoe boots with laces. I decided to go for these as they have the gold details on them and they tie in beautifully with my earrings and the chain from my hand bag. These come out on special occasions as they are extremely high heeled, but I just can’t resist them. I find them to be the perfect choice with this knit dress. They remind me of the Christian Louboutin’s Troopista lace-up ankle boots.

Next I decided to wear these gold statement earrings from Bees Jewellery. I rarely wear big earrings but as it’s a special occasion I thought why not go all out and opt for them. They are just the right size for me and I adore how well they work and tie in to my whole look.

You would have seen me wearing this Marks and Spencer bag on a numerous occasion in my past blogs. I really think this bag is just awesome for an affordable priced bag it definitely has got a lot of wear. The gold chain ties in wonderfully with my earrings and the details on my shoe boot. The pearl details at the front give it another dimension, and overall a very handy bag to fit all your essentials for a night out!

To finish of my look I wore my velvet gloves, these are vintage and I totally adore them. They just give the whole outfit that added chic and keep my hands warm at the same time. As for my makeup I kept it very minimal with a black winged eyeliner, therefore letting the bold red lips standout!
