How To Style Denim Jeans And Kimono

Denim is an integral part of everyone’s wardrobe, so this season many of the high street stores have gone all out to cater for our needs. I have decided to style my boyfriend jeans with a Kimono. I could not resit adding some spring florals to my ensemble, I just wanted it to be spring already. Who else feels this way? Having said that I do not want to wish my days away. Just done with the cold for now.

I must say I was rather lucky to have got away with wearing just my jumper and the kimono. Thats the beauty of layering you can add as much as you want. As for me I didn’t have add much, was fortunate enough to have got away with two layers.

This week in the world of mum, Eli and Wyatt have been hard practicing their musical instruments. Wyatt has his grade four clarinet exam and Eli has his guitar grade two coming up soon. So you can imagine the hard work they are both putting into their practice. They also have many other extra activities that they do so its impressive to me that they are doing this at such an young age. Of course they get reminders from me to practice, especially Eli as he needs that extra nudge! I will let you know how they get on…

Onto my ensemble, these are my only pair of boyfriend jeans. It really did take me a long to find a pair that fit me well. I am more of a Flared and skinny jeans kinda girl. But I did want to try boyfriend jeans out and when I came across these from Guess I decided to get them. They looked so good on the model and wondered how it was going to look on me.

Once they arrived I tried them on, they are still slightly loose on me. However, I have grown to like that and therefore this is my second time styling them. The wide cuffs are just gorgeous and is one of the things that drew me to them in the first place. It is in the distressed style and are absolutely comfortable to wear. I can see my self wearing them more and more.

To keep the look casual I opted for my frill shouldered jumper from Karen Millen. A plain jumper that has the edge due to the frills on the shoulder. Making it standout from the rest in my opinion. White always works so well with blue denim and the pairing here went rather well together.

Then I threw over this floral print Kimono from Zara which I just purchased last week on sale. It was a bargain to say the least and I am over the moon that I purchased it. I can see myself wearing this over and over again whether I wear it on its own or over something like I have done here. The Kimono can also be worn as a cover-up whilst on holiday! It comes in a velvet material and I don’t mind that at all. I know some people don’t like the feel of velvet. This is one of my favourite ways to wear a Kimono, with the denim jeans!

As for my shoes after much thought I went for these nude platforms that I have had for a number of years. They are from Carvela at Kurt Geiger, the heels are rather long. I could have gone for some trainers/sneakers but as I wasn’t going to be walking for long I opted for these instead. Even though they are rather high they are actually not uncomfortable to wear as I have worn them numerous times before.

The on trend item is my belt bag from Zara. I am sure you have seen many of these belt bags from Gucci and other high end designers. Now they are everywhere on the high street. This little black number I decided to get has plenty of space for most of my everyday essentials. Apart from my umbrella it fits everything else including my iPhone.

To give the look a bit of flare I went for my Whistles fedora hat in black. It ties in beautifully with the black belt bag. Another way to keep warm, whilst not having to compromise the look your going for. I find this hat to be so versatile that I can wear it with almost all of my outfits.

Now for these bad boys, my Blank Stormfighter sunglasses. I knew I had to have them as soon as I saw them. I adore sunglasses and the quirkier the better. This black pair reminds me of Cyclops from X-men and Geordi La Forge from Star Trek. They are very futuristic and I am in love with them. You will definitely be seeing me wear these in the coming weeks and months.

I wore Russian Red on my lips from M.A.C. This just brings out my face and does not get lost behind those fabulous sunglasses. To tie in the look I also went for red nails from OPI in OPI Red.
