Trench Dressing Red On Red

TRENCH DRESSING

Trench dressing is going to be a must for next season. As I browsed through the pages of Vogue, Harper Bazaar and Cosmoplitan I came across this. Trench coats have always been a firm favourite during the spring months when it is still that much cooler.

Designers are constantly reimagining the Trench coat, and for spring, the classic staple was officially the key piece in many collections. If there was one piece of outerwear to purchase once the Spring 2018 collections hit stores. I would say it has to be the trench coat. At Balmain the trench coat was reinterpreted in PVC, and at Prabal it was vinyl.  It was exquisitely updated via metallic-threaded rose embroidery and raw edges at Alexander McQueen. Although at Michael Kors it was kept simple and traditional.

There is something to fit everyone’s personal style and of course not to mention regional temperatures, come the next fashion season. I therefore took my inspiration from Trussardi which had red leather trench coats coming down the runway. A splash of colour to start the week off!

Its the second week of January and the boys went back to school last week. I must say they had the January blues on the first day back and I can’t blame them as it was very dark in the morning. It really did feel like it was five in the morning when in fact it was eight. Today is no different it is still very dark as I am typing away and the lack of vitamin D is starting to get to me too. So one way I am going to combat this is to start my morning with some form of exercise to give me that boost I need.

I find when I exercise I am more productive and get a lot more done during the day. Not one of those people who can go to the gym late in the evening. This I find really tires me out and also takes a lot longer for me to wind down before I can fall a sleep. In turn leaving me feeling tired the next morning. My son Wyatt is an early riser and is up at five in the morning and of course he has to wake us up too!

Secondly red is the perfect pick-me-up colour to combat the winter blues. Taking the lead from Trussardi as I was searching through the Karen Millen website I came across this high collar trench coat. It comes in two colours red and black. Now as I have a few black coats and don’t own a single red one. The decision was made and I purchased it, having no second thoughts about it. A stunning trench coat in my opinion which has this high collar with button closure. Coming in at knee length just the right length for your trench dressing. I adore that it is double breasted and fitted through the waist with a single vent. The black button detailing adds another dimension to the trench.

You could wear anything underneath this if wished to do so. As it is rather cold at this time I wore a knit jumper underneath mine. My whole focus of this ensemble was my trench coat. I know that as the temperature gets a little warmer I can wear it on its own. Now this is what I called trench dressing, standing out in a bold colour. If you are not someone who is into bold colours by all means stick to your traditional colours like stone or honey like the Burberry ones.

Generally I am not either but funnily enough red happens to be my favourite colour. I just wanted to try something which is out of my comfort zone. I think we should always try to reinvent ourselves and try new things to evolve and move on. It is easier said than done, as we all want to feel comfortable and safe and stick to what works for us the best. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that its just nice to try something different now and again and if you don’t like it by all means go back to what you love. Its just clothes at the end of the day!

Sticking with red I opted for my Kurt Geiger boots. I was going for a total red look and these are just gorgeous that I think I am trying to incorporate them into my outfits as much as possible. Can you blame me? With the buckle details and the pearls it just makes them stand out. Bonus is that they come in a kitten heel, so you know you can be in them for hours without worrying about your feet hurting.

As for my bag I decided to go for this little clutch from Karen Millen. The hue of red worked really well with the trench coat. It has a wrist loop which is very handy, leaving your hands free, specially useful on a night out.

The black buttons on the tench is what lead me to pick the sunglasses. These cat-eye pair are from Asos and are very affordable too, yet very on trend at the moment. To finish of the whole look I wore my Chanel Coco Rouge lipstick in the colour Adrienne. It is a gorgeous nude which has a pink undertone. Just the right shade of lipstick to wear with this all red look!
