What happens when you wear red boots with an all denim ensemble. Well you get a pop of colour, with all that light denim the red boots really do make a statement. The colours work so well together and compliment each other. Going for a casual look with an oomph of colour was what I was aiming for when I was deciding how to style these red boots. I went for a monochrome look and have to say I was really pleased how it all looked visually.
I had been on the look out for a pair of red boots, and when I saw these I just could not pass on them. The details on the boots is what drew me to them to begin with. They feature these four gorgeous buckles on them with pearls. These fierce ankle boots are raised on a feminine kitten heel to offset the dramatic straps. Lined with durable real leather the boots are truly stunning. They are from Carvela at Kurt Geiger London and are in the Sparky mid heel design. There is a pair of Gianvito Rossi red ankle boots on Net-A-Porter which are very similar to these but come in a higher heel height, but of course they are much pricier.
Keeping my outfit monochrome I knew that these boots would definitely pop out and scream “look at me!”. So I styled them with my True Religion cropped flared jeans. These are in the frayed styled and I absolutely adore them and have had them for so many years now. They still look like they are brand new. The light denim works so well with the red and just draws your eyes to the ankle boots. They are very comfortable to wear and come in a low waist style.
Now for the top half of my ensemble, I opted for my Zara shirt in this light blue/white striped colour. I was going for an oversized look and the shirt fit extremely well with the overall look. The shirt dress has a lapel collar, long sleeves with lace ups on the side, a contrasting belt, side pockets and front button placket fastening. What drew me to this is the fact that it had the side pockets, I love a dress with pockets. Who else loves pockets on a dress as much as me?!
I purchased this during the summer months and I am so glad that I can transition it into my autumn/winter wardrobe too. A shirtdress is a style of dress that has been inspired by a man’s shirt. It’s also known as the boyfriend shirt. It is supposed to be loose, breezy and a super versatile garment. Well I can vouch for that as I have been able to style it in a variety of different looks.
There are a whole variety of shirt dress’s from high end ones to high street ones, some have been injected with interesting details to add edginess. You can find ones with metal zippers and puffy sleeves, while some have been kept simple with an oversized option.
As it’s rather chilly I had to layer my Guess denim jacket on top of my shirt dress. This denim jacket ties in so well with the jeans in terms of colour and style. Also being a fitted jacket it give me that little bit of shape I want and pulls the whole look together.
As for my accessories I decided to go for this red clutch bag from Karen Millen to tie in with the red boots. A cute little bag with a wristlet strap, a very handy thing to have in my opinion specially on a night out when you need your hands to be free. I can carry my clutch by the wristlet strap and hold a glass of champagne or canapé at the same time. How perfect is that!
For the final touch I wore my cat-eye sunglasses which are from Asos. A great pair of sunglasses that are very affordable and stylish. I would recommend getting these if you are unsure about purchasing a pair of cat-eye sunglasses. This way you can find out whether or not you like the style before getting a high end pair.
