Velvet Asos dress And white Sunglasses

Velvet is not going anywhere and is still a big favourite this Autumn season. The difference this time around is that its a head-to-toe coloured velvet look, which was seen on the runways at New York fashion week and at London fashion week by designers such as Monse, Cedric Charlier, Erdem, Mary Katrantzou and a few others. I can understand why this luxurious fabric is hot on trend for the Autumn season, the fabric is thick and one that is sure to keep you warm during the colder periods. The vibrant colours are sure to make a big bold statement.

As we are still in September here in the UK and its still not that cold yet apart from a few days here and there. I have opted for this velvet black skater mini dress from Asos. At this stage I can still get away with wearing a mini dress and not freeze my legs off! So I thought I would start off with this black velvet dress and then ease my self into some coloured pieces later on. Currently have my eye on a Frame velvet blazer which comes with a matching trouser. The blazer can be found here (@Net-A-Porter) and the trousers here (@Net-A-Porter) too. This is not as bright as some of the pieces on the runway but its a start hey!

Personally I am not that brave at this stage of going into a full bright coloured ensemble of velvet pieces. Maybe my next purchase will be the Frame blazer which I mentioned earlier. If you are like me and are not that brave enough to jump in and purchase a bright coloured velvet piece or two just yet, then why not go for something like I have done.

The Asos dress has a high neck which has some embellishment on it in silver. This gives the dress a unique feel in my opinion and makes it stand out. It actually looks like I am wearing a necklace, which I was asked if it was by a lot of people. The velvet is so soft to touch and is just so luxurious. ‘Luxurious’ happens to be one of my son’s spelling words for this week and I can’t believe I am using it in my blog !! With three boys who each get a set of spellings to go through on a weekly basis. It is no wonder that I have so many words floating around in my head. How we mums have to multi task hey.

Ok I digress…… back to my gorgeous dress which has these long fluted sleeves. Making such a big statement and of course I absolutely adore them. If the sleeves were not enough to make a statement then the back surely will. It’s just stunning with an open button-keyhole with zip fastening. This will give you all that sexiness you need with just a hint of flesh showing. It comes in a fit and flare shape which will accentuate your waist and show it off even more!

Next came the decision of wearing boots, I was contemplating weather or not I was going to wear white boots instead of black ones. The white boots would have equally worked well with this dress. However, I changed my mind and went for these super gorgeous suede black ankle boots from Dune London. My love for lace-ups is undeniable and can’t get enough of them, that might have been the reason why I opted for these instead of the white pair. They have a cut out detail with a pointed toe, metal eyelet lace-up fastening and a slim high heel. Goes so well with this dress as I wanted the dress to be the main focus here.

To add some flare to the ensemble I went for a pair of white oval sunglasses which brings this ensemble to another level, if I do say so myself! I kept the bag to a minimal and went for a mini cross body bag in black too, although you could go for a silver one to accent the neck embellishment of the dress.
