How to style the Athleisure trend!

Today the weather is a little chillier and I was thinking about my new red Adidas top that I had recently purchased from Net-A-Porter. You might be thinking why I bought it from Net-A-Porter when I could have easily have purchased it from Adidas. Well I shall tell you, I was on the Net-A-Porter website searching for some leggings and I happen to come across this top! I loved the colour, the design and the style, so of course I had to have it. It is in a boxy shape with three quarter length sleeves, the signature adidas three stripes next to the side slits and is slightly shorter at the front. A bold edgy statement piece in my opinion!

I didn’t want to just have to wear it to the gym, so was looking for the perfect opportunity to wear it and today was the day as it was a little less warmer than it had been. So what do I pair it with hmmm!!!!!!

Now there are so many options I could have gone for in styling this top, but wanted to show you all how you could wear it in a different style by mixing it with some heels and an elegant skirt. This high waisted black pencil skirt from Karen Millen is just the perfect match in my opinion. The skirt is made from knitted jersey with graduated ribbing and sits high on the waist and falls to a mid length hem. So not to take the attention away from the top I went for a plain skirt in the colour black. As the top is shorter at the front and with the side slits it is very handy to tuck it in at the front to show of my waist. One way to wear the Athleisure style.

I absolutely love these boot shoes and as you may have noticed from my previous posts they sure do get worn a lot! I got these from Karen Millen too. Here are some of my suggestions on how to incorporate Athleisure style into your wardrobe:

Sweatshirts with wide leg trousers: Taking the cue from my outfit change the bottoms for a pair of wide leg trousers, you could go for the same colour bottoms if you are feeling bold or stick to black ones to keep the attention on the top. Add some heels to the outfit and this instantly makes the ensemble look very elegant. If you feel like going for a casual look then why not throw on a pair of trainers. All that is left is to add a bag, I would go for a cross body bag or a small shoulder bag to finish the ensemble. Find some sports tops from (here), (here), and (here).

Team your slip dress with a t-shirt and then throw on a athleisue sweatshirt on top. If you want to continue the casual look then add some trainers to the outfit. To amp up some glamour go for knee high boots to complete the look!

Sport-Luxe trousers with side stripes: There are a few ways to wear these trousers. I love wide trousers and these are just so easy to style. The popular colours tend to come in white, navy and black with the side stripes in different colours. I would go for an oversized shirt in either white or powder blue with a vest jumper depending on the weather. If its a little chillier then add a trench coat on top with some ankle boots to finish the look.

How about adding a jumper and a tailored jacket to go with similarly hued wide leg trousers. To finish the ensemble why not match the shoes to the colour of the stripe and make a statement!

If you want to embrace the military influence try adding a fur-trimmed peacoat on top of a white jumper. Again go for some ankle boots to finish off the look. You can find wide leg trousers (here), (here) and (here).

Now for the final details to the outfit, I teamed up my outfit with this M & S cross body bag in black. Such a cute little bag with pearls on the front flap, a gold chain and a magnetic fold over clasp. A nod to the Gucci small padlock faux pearl-embellished studded leather shoulder bag (here) in my opinion. To finish the ensemble I am wearing my Cat-Eye Rapture sunglasses from Le Specs @Net-A-Porter.
