How to wear Bell Bottoms and still show off your figure. Not everyone is keen on this look, but I think if you style it right they can flatter and showcase your figure. I have owned these high-waisted Karen Millen Bell Bottoms for a number of years now. The legs a very very wide and are a proper nod to the 70’s. I have let the hem out myself as I like that look. Styled it with a fitted plain white tank top from Zara to show off my waist. However, if you do not want to go for very wide leg Bell Bottoms then go for a fitted pair. The ones where they only flare out from the knee down. I own a few of those too, these will still give you the seventies vibe you want with a more structured look!
Here are few of my tips to style Bell Bottoms:
- Look for high-waisted styles, one of the ways to wear Bell Bottoms is in high-waisted form to help you best show off your figure. Go for a pair that hits near the belly button, and wear it with a tank top to keep it feeling modern. If you don’t like high-waisted jeans, by all means go for mid-rise ones, but be sure to show off your silhouette.
- Tailor the hem or let them out yourselves like I have done, or you can take your Bell Bottoms to the tailor and bring a few pairs of heels to see how they’ll look with different heights. Aim for a hemline that skims the floor this will elongate your legs and make them look longer. I prefer to only show off a slight glimpse of my shoes at the front and normally go for platforms or wedges. You can of course wear flats, but in my opinion heels always look better.
- Make sure to choose the right top, this is key to keeping your look long and lean. Tucked-in tees, blouses, tailored shirts, short tops and jackets, all keep the emphasis on your waist and thighs. If however, you’re not keen on short tops, why not go for a blazer with a longer shirt.
Considering how many pairs of Bell Bottoms I own, I feel a well structured and fitted pair of Bell Bottoms make you look so much more smarter and stylish, specially when you throw on a blazer to complete the look. My perfect pair would have to be my Frame Denim ones in the Karlie Kloss style, as they are longer in length and you do not have to let the hem out. If anything you may need to have them taken up. I have searched for years to get a perfect pair of Bell Bottoms that are well fitted and have the right length, and I have finally found mine. Saying that I won’t stop there I shall carry on looking for other makes too, as in my opinion you cant have too many!
Love to hear about your favourite Bell Bottoms.
