How To Style A Pleated Skirt For Autumn

Good morning everyone hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Today’s post is on styling a pleated skirt for Autumn. The pleated skirt is a versatile piece of clothing that can be styled with everything from flannel shirts and ankle boots to turtlenecks and heels.

Again they are great for transitioning from Summer to Autumn. So with that in mind I wanted to share with you five ways to style a pleated skirt. Take a scroll down and let me know which one is your favourite.

So first up is to stick to one tone this is one of the best ways to look polished and put together. So incorporate pieces from the same colour family. Here I have gone for an all black outfit, but could have easily chosen a neutral coloured skirt and sweater and similar tone boots to go with the outfit. Now my pleated skirt is from Zara and I wear this skirt all year round. Such a staple piece in my closet and one that I can style in so many different ways.

A vest top is a great way to style a pleated skirt and give it that statement worthy look. It is a great alternative to sweaters and one that can be layered. There are so many options when it comes to vest tops, whether you choose a knitted one or a blazer style one you can’t go wrong in my opinion.

If you’re looking for a more casual look, one of the best ways is to team the pleated skirt with an oversized flannel. The two combined go perfectly together and look super cool. The oversize flannel offers warmth and comfort and has become a cozy closet staple for the colder months. The have been spotted on the runways and can be seen on your favourite Instagrammers.

Next and on to styling an all white outfit with the pleated skirt. I personally love wearing all white all year round. I tend to find an all white outfit always looks so chic and put together. Of course there is the worry of trying to keep it crisp and clean. But other then that it is a firm favourite of mine, so why not team a white pleated skirt with a white turtle neck. Next add a white pair of knee high boots and throw on a white coat to complete the look.

Finally the most obvious way to style a pleated skirt for Autumn is to pair it with an oversize sweater like I have here. My sweater is from Zara and I have opted to cinch in my waist with a tan belt which is from H&M. You can also tuck it in at the front if you didn’t want to wear a belt. I then wore my Kurt Geiger biker boots which toughens up the look a little and gives it that edge I am looking for. But you could easily team it with a pair of ankle or knee high boots.

I can’t imagine my wardrobe without a pleated skirt, and in fact, I’ve just bought a bottle green one. I used to have a black one like yours. I even had something very similar in the 1980s. At this time of year, a cozy, oversized jumper has to be my favourite look! xxx

Pleated skirts are so versatile, and they are fun to twirl in or wear in the wind! I love the recommendation to pair them with plaid- that is so me.
