The Easiest Way To Layer A Dress for Autumn Winter

Good morning everyone, today’s post is about layering a dress for Autumn/Winter and how easy it is. So there is no need to put away your favourite midi dresses just yet. A great transitional piece that can be easily styled for the colder months. It’s all in the layering, whether you add a jumper, blazer or a coat there are endless ways to style the dress. So take a scroll down to see one way I have styled my midi dress for Autumn/Winter.

MIDI DRESS

So I shall begin with my white midi dress from H&M, such a comfortable dress and one that is versatile. The dress is perfect for those days you want to chill at home as it comes in an oversized style. It is also airy and has enough room for me to move around in without feeling restricted. Now for when I want to pop out on my day to day activity the easiest way to wear my dress for those chillier days is to layer up.

OVERSIZED BLAZER

The first Item I would grab from my closet is my black oversized Karen Millen blazer. Here I opted for a monochromatic look and therefore went for the black blazer. I could have easily left the blazer unbuttoned but I wanted a more structured look and therefore added my wide Zara belt with the gold buckle to cinch in my waist and give me that definition I am looking for!

Now I could have alternatively opted for a roll neck jumper to layer under my dress. For those really cold days I would throw on a coat to keep me feeling warm and cozy.

FEDORA HAT

Next I added my black Fedora hat from Whistles to give me some added warmth. Great way to elevate an outfit and give it some oomph. This just adds to the overall appearance of my outfit and at the same time keeps me warm too. Another versatile piece in my wardrobe as I tend to wear it all year round.

TRAINERS

As for my shoes I have decided to go for my Adidas Gazelle trainers here as it’s not that cold at the moment. Trainers are a great way to give an outfit that hi/low look. Also perfect for running errands and keeping your feet feeling comfortable all day long. You could easily switch the trainers for some ankle boots, combat boots or even some knee high boots which would work equally well here.

ACCESSORIES

Finally for my accessories I am wearing my black Rayban sunglasses and to complete my look I grabbed my mini black Jacquemus bag.

This is a great way to handle the “shoulder season” when it’s too warm for thick woolies and too cold for bare arms! The bigass belt really makes the outfit for me – I have a wide caramel-coloured Fendi one that I thrifted years ago, that I’ve done a similar thing with, over a blazer.

I like layering sweaters and blouses under my sleeveless dresses too, as a winterizing option.

I love that you belted the jacket and the complete outfit is fab. Great way to transition into autumn. I love your picks especially the dress from Reformation.

Your mini handbags slay me every time! I wouldn’t have been daring enough to style trainers with this look, but there is nothing that you can’t pull off.
