Good afternoon everyone, so I finally took the plunge after months of contemplation on whether or not I was going to suit this pastel shade! Purple can be a bold choice and depending how you wear it can sometimes be juvenile, however lilac on the other hand is much easier to style as it has that softness.
Get ready to see more of this hue if you haven’t already, from dresses, sweaters, tops to shorts it’s everywhere and is proving to be versatile and universal.
The top is what started this outfit of choice, I am a huge fan of Rotate Birger Christensen, all you have to do is scroll through my previous posts to see. So it was a little bit of a surprise when I first saw this top that I was a little hesitant. I didn’t want to buy it because lilac was on trend. I decided to wait a while, but I kept going back and looking at the top over and over again. Then I took the plunge and decided to go for it, once it arrived I was pleasantly surprised and relieved that it suited me. I hate sending stuff back, I know sometimes it has to be done, I just don’t like it!
Now I love the idea of styling colour on colour with the same tonality. Which brings me to my tweed tailored double-breasted blazer,(that was a mouthful). This is from Zara and I absolutely love it! The blazer features pronounced shoulders, front welt pockets, a back vent and gold buttons with a little black on them. Now as with all blazers they can be worn with so many different outfits and this one is no different.
Moving on to my linen shorts which are from Zara as well. I actually purchased the blazer and the shorts at the same time as i was going for a colour on colour look. There was another pair of shorts I was looking at which was a little deeper in colour and just wouldn’t work with my look. On top of that it had gold buttons which would clash with the buttons on the blazer. These baggy Bermuda linen shorts are perfect for summer I could easily style them with a white tee for a casual outfit. They feature a high elastic waistband and front pleats and comes with a tied belt in matching fabrics.
Finally completing my look I opted for white as my accent colour. My white court shoes are from Dune London and are a few years old. My sunglasses you would have seen me wearing are from Illesteva in the Cat-Eye style. Last but not least I am carrying my Gucci Dionysus bag.
What do you think of the lilac hue? Do you own any garments in this hue? Do let me know by leaving a comment below.
