How To Style The Utilitarian Dress

Good afternoon everyone, today’s post is based around this gorgeous shirt dress. Utilitarian-inspired styles seem to show up season after season. From the likes of Fendi, Givenchy, Loewe to Sies Marjan have had this military-inspired trend coming down the catwalks in 2019. This trend is not going away anytime soon, Jacquemus dresses had elements of Utilitarian, designed with starchy fabrics and lots of large pockets.

UTILITARIAN DRESSES

So let begin with the Utilitarian shirt dress that I am wearing, this one is from Jacquemus. Now what’s not to love about this edgy dress when you can have the best of both worlds. The dress features a front button fastening, comes in long sleeves and a short length. Why not style up the dress like I have here! Or you can wear it as a shirt by tucking it into a pair of slouchy jeans and some trainers/sneakers for a casual look.

SOCK BOOTS

When it came to styling the shirt dress I opted for these pointy sock boots which are from Public Desire. These give me that elevation I want and also works really well with my dress. I could have paired them with some biker boots to give it some more edge and toughen up the look. However, I decided to go with the dressier approach this time, maybe next time I will go for the tougher look.

MINI BAGS

Next and onto my bag of choice which is this little mini bag from 16Arlington. So it is no surprise to those that follow me on instagram how obsessed I am with mini bags at the moment. I simply can’t get enough of them, they are rather cute to be honest and yes I know not that practical as I can just about fit my lipstick and a favourite card of mine.

CAT-EYE SUNGLASSES

Finally completing my look I am wearing my white Cat-Eye sunglasses from Illesteva via Net-A-Porter. So most of you will know my desire for Cat-Eye sunglasses, I really can’t get enough off them either. There are my favourite style of sunglasses and over the years I have collected a number of them.

Do you like the Utilitarian dress? How would you go about styling yours? Or do you own any other types of Utilitarian garments? Do let me know by leaving a comment below.

I don’t own any utilitarian pieces. except for a jacket. I love this look. I thought it was a two-piece set initially. The purse is also Everything!
