Good afternoon everyone, toady’s post is on getting a holiday capsule wardrobe. Now most of us have spent almost six months at home, so thinking about going away on holiday may not have entered our minds until now. So don’t just start buying pieces that you may never wear again. Why not create a holiday capsule wardrobe that will see you wearing them on repeat now and in the years to come. Take a scroll down to see some of my favourite pieces!
OFF THE SHOULDER DRESS
First up is an off the shoulder dress, or if they are not your go-to then any other style of beautiful summer dress is a must. Whether you go for a minimal dress either in linen or cotton that is up to you. For those of you that like wearing bright and vivid colours what better time to wear them, also they are perfect against a tanned skin. The dress that I am wearing here is from Staud via Net-A-Porter. I do love an off the shoulder dress and this one comes in other colours too. The ‘Elio’ dress is cut from a breathable linen-blend woven with generous amounts of cotton and has a flowy tiered hem.
Now you all now how much I adore a basket bag, well it’s no longer just for the beach, it has become a staple in our wardrobes. The fact that you can carry all your daily essential has made it so much more appealing. When you are headed on your holiday why not carry the basket bag as a carry on to save some room in your luggage. My basket bag is from Loewe via Mytheresa. Love the size of the bag as I can carry a whole heap of things, including four beach towels as well as SPF, spare clothing for the boys and water too!
Moving on and onto shorts which are a staple in most of our wardrobes for summer. So if you are like me and love the denim cut-offs which are great for pairing over swimsuits, there are so many to get your hands on from the high street to the high end. If the cut-offs are not your thing then go for longer ones in the Bermuda style. Or why not go for a linen pair which can make for a more polished look, just perfect for sightseeing.
Next and onto swimwear, now for me when it comes to my swimwear I like to step out of my comfort zone and go for bold colours. That may not all ways be the case but I do like to switch it up from time to time. You will for sure find some colourful bathing suits as well as some neutral ones in my wardrobe!
When it comes to footwear it is a good idea to invest in a pair of leather sandals. It is a definite essential that will see you through from the beach to the city and is the perfect finishing touch to an array of outfits. On the casual side a pair of flip flops is a must and one I wear daily. For the evening why not go for a pair of mules like the ones I am wearing which are from Staud via Net-A-Porter.
WIDE LEG TROUSERS
A pair of wide leg linen trousers is another must for a summer wardrobe, perfect as a cover-up and worn over your bathing suit. A versatile piece of clothing that can be be worn with a blouse or with a tank top to take you from day to night.
Talking of cover-up this is a definite must for the beach and pool. Again linen types are great and can be thrown over your swimwear. Go for one that is versatile and can be worn a few different ways, therefore making your packing a littler lighter.
Finally moving onto accessories, I absolutely adore hats and a straw hat for me is a must. They look fab with a summer dress and can elevate an outfit for sure, also helps keep the sun at bay too. My straw hat is from Mango and comes in a wide brim and I absolutely love it.
As for jewellery I love gold and would pack a chunky gold necklace and earrings. Completing my list and not forgetting my trusted sunglasses which are without a doubt an essential. Here I am wearing my Azzedine Alaia pair from Net-A-Porter.
