How To Style A Crop Top And Still Look Put Together

Good morning everyone, today’s post is on styling a crop top and still looking put together. Now I know a crop top isn’t for most people, if you don’t feel confident enough to show off your midriff then by all means just go for a normal top. However, you could try layering and wear your crop top over a blouse, shirt, tee or dress. The key to rocking a crop top is to ensure your bottoms, whether you choose to wear a pair of trousers, jeans, shorts or skirts make them high waisted!

Lets begin with styling your crop top with a suit, this is one of the easiest ways to wear a crop top and look put together. I mean you can wear any crop top under a buttoned blazer, so those of you who don’t like exposing your midriffs this would be ideal for you. It is also a great way to layer during the summer months and still look cool, it is also an effortless way to go from day to night. The blazer is the one item I would recommend pairing with a crop top as it instantly makes an outfit look polished. Here I am wearing my oversized black Karen Millen blazer, this is a few years old now but I just love how versatile it is.

Moving on and onto high waisted jeans and a blazer, most cropped tops except for those bralette style ones like I am wearing will tend to sit just by the waistline of an high waisted jeans or trousers. Then add your favourite blazer either draped over you shoulders or worn it’s up to. Finally add some heels and your all set.

Next I would suggest styling your crop top with a maxi skirt. The one I am wearing is from KNITSS, I just love the green and white geometric pattern. Again go for a blazer to pull the look together, if you didn’t want to wear a blazer why not opt for a cropped top with long sleeves. This would work equally well, add some heels and a clutch bag and your ready to go!

Lastly why not try the most modest approach and try and layer the crop top by wearing it on top of our shirts, tee’s, roll necks, or dresses. Take your pick, a corset style crop top works really well with an oversized shirt to create a flattering silhouette. This is a very good way to make an outfit look edgy, I have previously done that with a bustier. Take a look HERE to get some inspiration.

Do you wear crop tops or are you someone who stays well clear of them? If you do wear them then how would you go about styling yours? Do let me know by leaving a comment below.

I remember a few years ago it seemed like every store I went in was selling crop tops! I’m over here like… where are the full-length tops?! Why are these just as expensive, but with half the fabric?! I’m not a fan of showing my midriff, but, being that I’m only 5 foot tall, most crop tops fit me like a fitted tee. Or, I can go a size up, which also helps. Otherwise, your ideas are also very helpful! People of average height really can’t use my trick hahaha.
