Good afternoon everyone, today’s post is about styling a slip dress in four different ways. Now I don’t know about you but I absolutely love to wear my clothes as many different ways as possible. A slip dress is one of those versatile dresses and one that can be transitioned from Spring, Summer, Autumn to Winter. I have listed fours ways you can style your slip dresses, I am sure many of you will already know some of them if not all!
A slip dress can easily be worn from day to night, go casual during the day and then for the evening switch it up with some heels. My yellow slip dress is from TOPSHOP and is a few seasons old now. But there are plenty of slip dresses to get you hands on from the high street to the high end. Here are just a few that I have selected
So lets begin on styling our slip dresses, one easy way to do this is to add an oversized blazer like I have done here. This blazer is a few years old and is from Karen Millen. Now you can either leave it undone or you could belt it with a wide belt like mine. The one that I am wearing is from Zara and I love to wear it as it instantaneously gives my outfit some shape by cinching me in at the waist. Now when it comes to footwear it’s up to you can either go for something with heels or go for flats, I will leave that up to you.
PLAIN WHITE T-SHIRT
Next and onto styling the slip dress with a plain white t-shirt. Well that is my preference but you could choose any colour of your choice. Layer your slip dress on top and add some sneakers/ trainers for a casual dressed down look. This is a hot favourite amongst street stylers and Instagrammer’s alike.
Moving onto the third way I would choose to style a slip dress is with an oversized jumper. This would be ideal for the cooler months, throw your jumper over your slip dress and voila, now all that is left is the footwear. Maybe add some boots either some knee high ones or a pair of ankle boots like the ones I am wearing here. These sock boots are from Public Desire and they work so well with my outfit.
A WHITE SHIRT
Finally and onto the forth way to wear a slip dress. Get an oversized white shirt and wear it on top of the slip dress, then tie the shirt in a little knot at the front. This will make the outfit look much more put together then just throwing on the white shirt and it also gives the outfit a little twist. Add some espadrilles or some sneakers/ trainers and you are set.
How would you go about styling a slip dress? Which one of the ways I mentioned would you choose? Do let me know by leaving a comment below.
