Good afternoon everyone, today’s post is about dressing down that little white dress. This is one of my favourite ways to style feminine dresses and make them wearable for daytime. I Love pairing biker boots with feminine dresses, although they are complete opposites they actually work rather well together, don’t you think? The boots add toughness to the overall look and takes away from the dressiness of the little white dress and gives it the cool girl vibes.
Boots are ideal for everyday life, the flat soled boots can be styled with floral or neutral dresses for a contrasting look. If dresses are not your thing then the boots will work beautifully with trousers and a shoulder padded tee. Make sure to tuck the trousers into the boots.
LITTLE WHITE DRESS
So lets begin with this little white dress, this is from H&M and I purchased it last year. I am a sucker for Broderie Anglais and was immediately drawn to this dress. The dress comes in a cotton weave and has a small frilled collar. There is an opening with covered buttons at the back of the neck. I absolutely love the long raglan sleeves with the wide cuffs and covered buttons. Not forgetting the flounce at the hem and the inner tunic which is a viscose weave that has adjustable shoulder straps. A perfect summer dress in my opinion which can also be styled with sandals, sneaker/trainers or flats.
Now when it came to dressing this down the first item I grabbed were my biker boots from Kurt Geiger. These instantaneously toughen up my outfit, they are extremely comfortable to wear and look super cool. The style I am wearing is the Sting style which comes in a rugged black lace-up that stretches up to my mid calf. These biker boots are finished with gold-tone buckles, studs and an outsole style that is durable.
Moving on and I decided to add my black Fedora hat from Whistles. I always find that a hat always elevates my look and gives it the statement worthy feel I am looking for. Ideal for those sunny days to keep the rays out of my face.
Finally I wanted to give the outfit some shape and nothing does that better than a wide belt. This one is from Zara and you would have already seen me wearing it in my previous posts. The wide belt cinch’s in my waist and just pulls the whole outfit together! The gold buckle works well with the gold-tone buckle of the biker boots too. Completing my look I have kept my make-up to a minimal with a nude lipstick in the shade Topped With Brandy from M.A.C.
How would you dress down your little white or black dress dress? Would you style the dress with biker or combat boots? Do let me know by leaving a comment below.
