Good morning everyone today’s post is about four ways to style a dress with jeans. Now when I was a little girl I use to hate it when my mum used to make me wear dresses with my trousers. Her aim was to make sure I wasn’t cold and also to if a dress was too short the trousers were the solution. Now fast forward to today and I am surprised that I am actually incorporating this style. But what better way to reinvent your outfit by using the existing items in your closet. I am sure most of us own a pair of jeans, so lets start with that as the staple piece and build on it.
When it comes to wearing a dress with jeans, most people tend to fear that the outfit will look too bulky. Well fear not I have put together four ways to style a dress with jeans that will leave you with a cool fresh vibe and not looking frumpy at all.
MINI DRESS WITH STATEMENT SLEEVES
So first up is styling a mini dress like the one I am wearing which is from Rotate Birger Christensen with a pair of jeans. Now this dress works with a number of jeans, be it slouchy like my Zara ones, or a straight legged pair. The key here is to tuck the dress into your jeans. Therefore it looks like a top as opposed to a dress, also go for a statement worthy sleeve dress as this adds to the overall look. See how easy it was to make this outfit stand out by adding this puff sleeve dress!
Next and onto wrap dresses, pair a mini wrap dress with your boyfriend style jeans and this time do not tuck it in. It’s all about proportion, make sure to cinch in the waist and maybe throw on a blazer. I would personally add some heels as this always makes the outfit look elevated in my opinion.
MIDI SHIRT DRESSES
Midi shirt dresses styled with jeans can be rather chic. Why not try a light blue button up shirt dress with some light-washed denim jeans with straight legs. As for the accessories may be go for some pop of colour to amp up the outfit, but you can stick to neutrals should you choose to.
MAXI OVERSIZED DRESSES
Last but not least is the maxi dress, go for an oversized floaty one as this will work beast with your jeans. This is a great way to make use of your maxi’s for longer, they don’t just have to be for Spring/Summer. A sheer maxi paired with some light-wash jeans is ideal you could go one step further and either layer it with a blazer or a sweater for a casual look.
