Good morning everyone today’s ensemble is based around this beautiful pleated two tone maxi skirt. Now you don’t need me to tell you how popular the maxi pleated skirt is at the moment, you would have seen it everywhere right?! This bottom piece of garment is back in style and making a resurgence. I for one am not that surprised by it, a pleated skirt to me is one of those pieces we shall be seeing a lot more of in the future. There are a variety of pleated skirts, from pleather, neon to two tone. Also you have the option of styling the skirt in so many different ways, so here I am going to show you one way to style the pleated maxi skirt.
So lets begin with my pleated skirt, this is from A.W.A.K.E. MODE at Net-A-Porter. The Double Trouble, yes that’s what it’s called and it comes in this red and light pink featuring an asymmetric style, a high waist and a back tie fastening. The skirt it self is on the heavier side, so no chance of any mishap with the wind blowing it up. I absolutely love the movement of the skirt when I am walking. Now there are number of ways to style the pleated maxi skirt.
I have gone for a dressed up look here, but I could have equally dressed down my outfit by teaming the skirt with a white tee and some white trainers/sneakers. Another way I could have style the skirt would have been to wear an oversized jumper and tuck it in at the front and again wear some trainers and sneakers. Last but not least for the office the pleated skirt can be teamed with a shirt and some court shoes.
CROSS FRONT TOP
Moving on and I opted to style my skirt with this halter neck criss cross top from Reiss. The top is a year old and takes on the details of a classic tank silhouette, designed with a cross-front feature that instantly makes my outfit stand out. With its dramatic back-bearing silhouette and distinct naughties vibe it’s perfect for a day to night time look.
Of course I know a halter neck to may not be for everyone and if you are one of those people who have a bigger bust you don’t have to worry. There are plenty of halter neck tops that feature long sleeves. So you can wear a bra underneath it, should you choose too.
Next and onto my shoes, I wanted to stay with pink tone of the skirt, hence the reason for choosing this nude pair from Steve Madden. A simple pair of shoes that are so elegant and the heels give me all the elevation I am wanting and tie in beautifully with the skirt.
As for my bag and after much contemplation about whether or not to go with a white bag I went for this brown coloured beaded one from Cult Gaia instead. This gorgeous wooden Cora bag embodies Cult Gaia’s penchant for 1970’s reference. The bag features a beige canvas pouch which has been framed by gradient-toned wooden beads that also form the round top handles.
Finally for the finishing touches and to add some more white to the outfit I grabbed my Cat-Eye sunglasses from Illesteva. You would have already seen me wearing this pair of sunglasses on repeat and there is a good reason for that as they instantly amp up my outfit! So to complete my look I am wearing my nude lipstick in the shade Topped With Brandy from M.A.C.
