HOW TO STYLE A PRINT DRESS

Good morning everyone, today’s ensemble is based around this gingham dress. Now it’s not your usual black and white gingham print. However this pretty preppy print can be found everywhere right now and is a firm favourite for Spring/Summer. The gingham print was seen at Altuzarra, Christopher Kane and Tome to name a few, small checks surpassed even stripes as the favourite print of the season.

So get ready to get your hands on this French inspired trend, whether it’s a dress, skirt, top or a jumpsuit make it a part of your wardrobe. If however prints are not your thing you can always incorporate the print in the form of accessories like a handbag or a scarf.

GINGHAM DRESS

So lets begin with this gingham dress which was gifted to me by House Of Mucha. A simple dress which can easily be elevated by adding a few touches here and there to amp it up. The dress is a midi length which I love, also loving that it’s not in your usual black and white gingham print.

SOCK BOOTS

Next and I opted to style the dress with my black sock boots from Public Desire. I find these boots work really well with the dress and are the perfect length for this outfit. The boots come in a high heel and for me they comfortable to walk in. Of course alternatively you could pair the dress with some biker boots for a dress down look or some sneakers/trainers which would work equally well here.

STRAW BAG

Right when it came to choosing a bag for this outfit I opted for this round bag. For me straw bags are a staple for Spring/Summer, hence the reason I decided to go with this Bamboo Coffer bag from Mango. Embracing the basket bag trend has never been easier thanks to the cross-body rattan bag. The structure of the bag combined with it’s straw material is a key ingredient for a Spring/Summer attire. Also one of the most practical too! One of my go-to bags around this time of year.

WAIST BELT

Moving on and on to my waist belt, which here makes this outfit in my opinion. This waist cinching belt from Karen Millen just takes the dress to the next level, I love to show case my curves and this does it beautifully. I know some might not want to style it in this way and that is absolutely fine. I would suggest you style it the way it makes you comfortable and to your style!

STRAW HAT

On to my beautiful straw hat which is from Mango. The oversized straw hat has become the must-have accessory for Spring/Summer. Whether you go big, medium or small, the straw hat is a staple for this season as much as prints are. It is the perfect accessory for keeping the sun at bay as well as giving you that cool it girl vibes!

Now ever since I saw the oversized Jacquemus hat I wanted to get my hands on one! So for the time being this Mango one has been filling in exceptionally well. As someone who adores wearing hats anyway, there is no surprise as to how much wear I have gotten out of this hat thus far. I instantly knew that it was a keeper at first and secondly I knew I was going to be wearing it as much as possible. This straw hat comes with a contrast black ribbon which can be worn undone, tied or tucked in like I have here.

FINISHING TOUCHES

Finally for the finishing touches I am wearing a nude matt lipstick in the shade topped with brandy from M.A.C. On top of that I am also wearing my Chanel Coco Rouge lipstick in the shade Adrienne to give the illusion of fuller lips. To complete my look I grabbed my Le Specs x Adam Selman Cat-Eye Sunglasses in the style scandal.

What is your take on the gingham trend? Do you like the usual black and white print? Or are you someone who is willing to try different version of this trend? Do let me know by leaving a comment below.

Wowza! When I started looking at the pieces separately, I was thinking..there’s no way those sock boots are going to work with the dress…and the starw bag…hells no. Welp…I was wrong. That outfit is so cute. Thanks for the awesome styling idea. I’ve got a couple of print dresses I’m going to try this out with.

I’ve had a hard time wearing print dresses. Maybe because I haven’t paired them too well. I love your dress! The gingham looks gorgeous! I always love that your belt make a statement!
