Good morning everyone today’s ensemble is on how to style short suits. I have been more and more into wearing a short/Bermuda suit lately. Currently there are so many beautiful ones on the high street as well as high end ones too. There is a vast amount of different colours and styles to choose from. The short suit has seen a resurgence on the catwalk for the past few seasons and has been a front runner for SS20. Get ready ladies to see this trend pop up everywhere if you haven’t seen them already. The are a umber of ways to make the short suit work for you, whether it’s for the office which nowadays is our homes, be it off-duty or why not dress it up for the evenings (when we can finally go out!)
Which one of the following will you be trying or have already embraced. The sharply tailored short suit, the relaxed look or the leather look?! The likes of Chanel, Ralph & Russo and Dior had short suits in prints coming down the runways, which can be easily transitioned through the season. During the cooler months they can be worn with tights and knee high boots or go bare legged during Spring/Summer with some mules.
For a more tailored outfit, take your inspiration from the likes of Max Mara and Brandon Maxwell to name a few. Pair the fitted tailored short suit with a sharp shirt to give that traditional overall look. Another look that is very much popular right now is the short suit in leather. I am loving the leather shorts from The Frankie Shop.
SHORTS & BLAZER
So lets begin with the shorts and blazer combo. I bought them separately but the thing to remember here is that there is no rule to have a matching set. Although I do love wearing them, hence the reason why I opted to pair the same Ecru colour here with the blazer and the shorts. Both my blazer and shorts are from Zara and paired together give my overall look the sharp crisp look I am going for.
Next and onto my white halter neck bodysuit which is also from Zara. Now I love these bodysuits so much that I bought two of each colour, they also come in black, nude, leopard and orange. The perfect basics to wear under a blazer or just on their own.
Moving on and I wanted to add some texture to the outfit and therefore teamed this knit tunic from Tibi at Net-A-Porter. This just gives the overall look a different twist then your usual top and short suit combo. I find it makes the outfit more statement worthy in my opinion. It is ideal for the cooler months and can easily be paired with a long sleeve top underneath.
As for my shoes I have opted for my croc effect leather mules with the knotted thong toe post from Staud at Net-A-Porter. Love a white on white outfit and these mules work perfectly with my attire. They come in a fluted kitten heel which is ideal for walking around and give me that slight elevation that I love.
My bag of choice here is my Cult Gaia Millie rattan bag which I also bought from Net-A-Porter. I bought the bag last year and for me is the perfect kind of bag for Spring/Summer, the bag is very cool and distinctive. This ‘Millie’ style is woven from beige rattan in a spherical silhouette with an equally rounded top handle. The ideal bag to make any outfit standout, a cute little bag which has enough room for all my daily essentials.
As for the finishing touches first off I am wearing my cat-eye sunglasses from Illesteve @Net-A-Porter. This white pair is one of my favourites to wear and instantaneously amps up my outfit. Finally for some pop of colour I went for a bold red lip from Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme Intense Matte Lip Colour in the shade 116 extreme to complete my look.
