Good morning everyone, today’s ensemble is from Mwinda SS19 collection. This trouser and top set aptly named L’ensemble is one of those outfits that is perfect for fashion week. Such a statement worthy look that is for sure to make anyone stand out in a crowd. I had the pleasure of collaborating with Mwinda last month on a video shoot. Which I am hoping I can share with you in the up coming months.
Before I get started on the outfit here is a little back story to Mwinda. The lady behind the brand is Joelle Ngolatsie who is a Congolese fashion designer and founder of Mwinda. Currently based in Dubai, however she was raised between Congo-Brazzaville and South Africa. Mwinda means “Light”, more specifically “the traditional African Petrol Lamp” in Kitunba/Lingala language in Congo. The brand takes inspiration from the beautiful African culture with a mixture of contemporary and Vintage.
This is what the brand says about the Mwinda woman, “The Mwinda woman is independent, confident, classy, sexy in a modest and captivated way, she is unique and extremely aesthetical soul.”
Right lets begin with this gorgeous two piece which was kindly gifted to me from Mwinda. The top has been draped and is elasticated, the cone shape on one side gives it that unique look. Made from organza the top sits beautifully. I absolutely love the style of the trousers, they are high waisted with pockets and are cuffed at the bottom with ties. In this lightweight fabric it is ideal for the Dubai weather. One of my favourite type of trousers to wear. If you are interested in this style there are two more trousers (The Cone Pants) in this style which are ideal for cooler climates! Take a look HERE.
So when it came to styling this two piece set after much deliberations I opted to go with red accessories. First up I chose to wear my red Dune London shoes, here is another pair of lace-up that I could not resist. I love the criss cross detailing once I do the ghillie lace-up, making them look super sexy, if I do say so myself. The court shoes feature metal tips on the ghillie lacings, a slim high heel finished off with a round toe. Styled with the L’ensemble they work extremely well and make that statement I am looking for.
Moving onto my bag and here I have styled my L’ensemble with my red clutch from Karen Millen to tie in with my shoes. A cute little bag with a wristlet strap, a very handy thing to have in my opinion specially on a night out when you need your hands to be free. I can carry my clutch by the wristlet strap and hold a glass of champagne or canapé at the same time. How perfect is that!
Next I grabbed my Le Skinny red/aubergine cat-eye slim sunglasses which are from Poppy Lissiman. Love how this slim cat-eye sunglasses just elevates the overall look. For the finishing touches I have pulled my hair to the back and away from my face. Finally completing the look I am wearing my red matte liquid lipstick from M.A.C. in the shade Feels So Grand.
