Good morning everyone, so I finally managed to wear this gorgeous H&M x Giambatista Valli dress. Like so many of you I couldn’t wait for this second collection and let me tell you it didn’t take long for it to be sold out. I was lucky enough to get my hands on it online. I know right! Most of the time you can’t even enter the site let alone be able to find something in one’s size. To my delight this time around I managed to grab this not so little number!
Before I get started on my dress here is a little insight into this collaboration. H&M are are on of those brands that have been pushing the envelope with their designer collaboration for fifteen years now. They have collaborated with the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Moschino, Balmain to name a few in the past.
This was by far their best collaboration in my opinion and taking the collection to a haute couture inspired level. You can for sure see the attention to detail and the signature Giambattista Valli designs. Plenty of tulles, ruffles, accentuated waist which I adore. Not forgetting the intricate beading, the beautiful embroidery, the pearls and stud and so much more. The collection included romantic and bohemian pieces which were contrasted by punk inspired trousers and boots.
Like I mentioned earlier you really have to be quick to get your hands on one of these pieces. Either you have to que up around the block like some do from early hours of the morning or hope you can enter their website to get at least one piece.
Right lets get onto my beautiful ball dress, now I was up early on that day and ready to go as I waited by my computer just before 8.00am. I really didn’t think I was going to be able to purchase anything if my previous experiences was anything to go buy. But to my surprise I managed to get on to the site without any issue and also had some time to browse. There were at least three other dresses I liked and after contemplating on which one I should purchase I decided on this gorgeous gown.
Now it’s not something I will be able to wear all the time but I did not mind that as I knew one place I could wear it too. That was to an opera, this was my perfect rationale as to why I needed to have this dress. Not that I normally do that but I didn’t want it to just hang in my closet without getting any wear.
So when the dress finally arrived it was boxed up and I couldn’t wait to take it out and try it on. I so hoped that it fit me as I envisaged it would. The dress went on and I can truly say that it felt amazing as the dress fit perfectly! I was never into fairy tales and princesses so those kind of dresses never appealed to me. I never thought I would be into a dress like this. To my surprise I didn’t mind it to say the least, I am extremely happy that I purchased it.
Moving on to my shoes I could have gone for a number of pairs but decided on this T-Bar baby pink ones from Reiss. The flowers on the dress are in a baby pink so I picked that colour and opted to style the shoes in the same colour. For me they work rather well and the shoes themselves are very comfortable to wear.
Finally for the finishing touches, I kept my make up to a minimum. On my lips I decided to go for a bolder colour and therefore I am wearing my Chanel matte Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme in the shade 116. An elegant and sophisticated red lipstick which has an extremely matte second-skin finish which is does not dry my lips.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read my fashion blog. What did you make of the H&M x Giambatista Valli collaboration? Do let me know by leaving a comment below.
