Good morning everyone, today’s attire is based around this wrap over Tartan skirt. During the Autumn/Winter season tartan is very popular and can be seen on street style looks that are currently parading on Instagram. Now there are a vast amount of vibrant tartans, from bright blues to exuberant yellows. But don’t worry the traditional shades of red, navy and green are still available in abundance.
When it comes to plaid Burberry do it exceptionally well. So it’s that time of year to get the tartan trench out from the back of the closet. If like me you don’t own a Tartan trench well worry not as there are so many other ways to incorporate this pattern, from trousers, blazers, dresses to skirts.
So here is my take on this tartan print and how I have incorporated into my everyday wear. My Tartan wrap over skirt is from H&M. The perfect skirt for Autumn/Winter with it’s brown hues and A-line style. Along with the addition of the detachable tie belt the skirt also comes in knee length in woven fabric. This affordable skirt is high waisted with a paper bag waist, my all time favourite style to wear. The waist is elasticated at the back, so gives me some added room should I need it. A sophisticated midi tartan skirt which is perfect for everyday wear as well as for the office and one that will see me through this season with ease. A versatile piece for sure and can be styled with knee high boots or calf one’s like I am wearing here.
LEOPARD PRINT BOOTS
Talking of footwear, here I have decided to style my H&M Tartan skirt with my leopard print sock boots from Public Desire. I was going for the clash of prints and love how they look together. The boots themselves make a big statement and gives my look that edge I am looking for. These are a close dupe to the Balenciaga knife boots. Adding the leopard print just gives my overall look some instant cool girl vibes. If you wanted to go for a non print pair of boots, then I would suggest opting for a neutral pair. Why not go for a brown knee high pair which will tie in beautifully with the Tartan skirt.
ROLL KNECK TOP
Next and onto my top and I here I opted to go with this brown roll neck jumper which is also from H&M. A very simple jumper which goes wonderfully with my Tartan skirt and keeps within my colour scheme. This just balances out the prints that I am wearing on the bottom half of my body.
Moving onto my bag and keeping with the brown hue I opted for my beaded Cora Cult Gaia bag. Such a handy little bag that is perfect for my everyday use. This gorgeous wooden Cora bag embodies Cult Gaia’s penchant for 1970’s reference. The bag features a beige canvas pouch which has been framed by gradient-toned wooden beads that also form the round top handles. Such a statement worthy bag which has enough room and space for my everyday essentials.
For the finishing touches I am wearing my vintage Gucci sunglasses, I bought this pair on my first visit to the U.S. I am so pleased that I purchased them as they are nearly twenty years old now, they still look and feel great. Finally on my lips I am wearing my current favourite nude lipstick in the shade Topped With Brandy from M.A.C. So there you have it one of many ways to incorporate the Tartan print into your closets.
