HOW TO STYLE A LACE BODYSUIT FOR THE DAY

Good morning everyone, today’s ensemble is based on incorporating this lace bodysuit for the day. So whilst I sit here tapping away the boys have just finished their lessons and are about to go into the swimming pool. I am slightly distracted by them but trying as fast as I can to get this post finished and uploaded so that I can go join them. Might as well make the most of it as in the UK we would be layered up right about now.

Now back to styling this lace bodysuit, I know it can be somewhat tricky for most people myself included wearing lingerie outside of the bedroom or the comfort of ones home. However, that doesn’t need to be the case, styled appropriately they can be worn for a night out as well as during the day. There is a huge increase in the  number of lace bodysuits on the market. Thanks to the catwalk, sporting lingerie outside of the bedroom has become a go-to look, mainly for the evenings. So I thought I would be a little daring with mine and style it for the day.

BODYSUIT

So lets begin with this white lace corset bodysuit from Femme Luxe. This unique bodysuit has front clasp closure and like I mentioned earlier comes in a corset style with a luxe floral lace. Like most of you I was hesitant at first about wearing this for a daytime look. But I thought why not style it in a way that I can wear it without feeling like I just stepped out of my bedroom. With that in mind this how I have opted to style this delicate piece of item. If this still feels a bit much for you why not wear a semi sheer blouse or shirt over it to tame the look.

TAILORED SHORTS

I teamed the lace body with my black belted city shorts from Karen Millen. The shorts are from one of their previous seasons and comes in high waisted and I love how it pairs perfectly with the body. The shorts are tailored perfectly and fit so comfortably. There is a corset detailing through the waist and an interlaced belt detail with an eyelet trim. The shorts are fastened by an invisible zip at centre back. All in all a beautiful pair of tailored shorts that can easily see me through from work-to-night. Of course I could have easily styled my bodysuit with some trousers or a skirt, which would have worked equally as well.

BLAZER

Next I decided to drape over my shoulders this black oversized blazer which is also from Karen Millen. The blazer has these gorgeous faux leather detailing around the neck area which gives the illusion of lapels. A must-have staple piece in my opinion as it works with almost all outfits! In this case just pulls my whole outfit together and makes it look like they are part of a suit. When in fact they are not, and If I didn’t mention this I am quite sure you wouldn’t have been able to tell.

BOOTS

Moving onto my shoes and here I paired these black peep-toe booties which are also, (surprise surprise) from Karen Millen. These are one of my favourites and I find them so comfortable to walk in. Hence the reason I find myself gravitating towards them more often. The booties are from a few seasons ago, however the style is so popular that each Autumn/Winter you will come across similar styles on the high street as well as in high end stores too.

BAG

As for my bag after much deliberations I went with my gorgeous Shrimps bag in the style Willow. This boxy bag comes in a black and cream gingham faux pearl design. It features two beaded top handles, an inside pocket. The bag comes in the brands signature lining, which is the hand drawn daffodil design. FINISHING TOUCHES

Finally for the finishing touches I wanted a bold lip. So I decided to wear the shade Feels So Grand in the Retro Matte Lip colour from M.A.C. This gorgeous red matt lipstick just adds that pop of colour I wanted and completes my whole look. Before heading out I grabbed my Le Specs Cat-eye sunglasses in the style Rapture to complete my ensemble.
