Good morning everyone, today’s post is all about items you need in your wardrobe. There is a big buzz on slimming back your closet into something with more of a capsule feel. Less clutter, more quality. But the problem is, every season there are some stunning pieces and trends. So picking up something that you love, and will wear isn’t a bad thing. Putting more care and attention into what you buy will mean that you only have a closet full of things that you love.
There are some staples that everyone should have in their wardrobes. They serve as the workhorse pieces. Ready for everything and anything.
The bag of bags. A great tote bag can be your go-to. They fit a lot of stuff in, so they can go from a weekend trip to a trip to the grocery store easily. You probably want to look for a good quality tote bag. Look for reinforced corners – so when you inevitably place your bag on the floor countless times, it won’t wear and tear quickly. Make sure there is enough room for a laptop if you have a tendency to work on the go. Inner zipped pockets are a big bonus too.
If you don’t love the idea of leather, then a faux one is perfect. A leather jacket gives an edge to any look. They are warm enough to see you through Autumn too. You don’t have to stick to the tradition black though. A pink leather jacket for women is quirky, and a well cut one gives a nice twist to the classic.
Black, navy or nude work with pretty much any outfit you have in mind. They are relatively light, and are worn mainly during the spring and summer months. The great thing about ballet flats is that they can be tossed into your bag. Making them Ideal for wearing after a night of dancing in heels.
A great pair of sunglasses is a must. You can sling them on when you aren’t having your best day, you don’t want to talk to anyone, you’ve smudged your mascara, or when the weather is just incredible, and you need that shade. They really have a lot of protection for the skin around your eyes – plus they are fun too! It is worth trying on a few different styles, you might be surprised at what shape and colour suits you. Personally I wear sunglasses all year round as they are one of my go to accessories.
The blouse is highly underestimated. They can easily add an instant pop of colour or pattern, and work for smart-casual occasions. Statement sleeve blouses are my favourites, love how they make an outfit standout!
If you have always fancied yourself as a bit of an Audrey Hepburn, then this is your chance. Ankle grazing well-tailored trousers give a clean looking silhouette and work with your ballet flats, any blouse, your plain white tees and your leather jacket. They can be mixed and matched with many other items too.
Once you have found a t-shirt that fits and suits you the most, I would recommend you stock up on them. In as many colours as you want. Plenty of white, black and a bold shade of your choice is a great idea.
Having a few basics in your closet that you can rely on will make getting dressed for any occasion much more relaxed.
