Good morning everyone, today’s ensemble is based around this beautiful midi skirt. A great summer staple piece to have in your wardrobes. The pleated midi skirt has been on my list of items to buy for a long time now. I was waiting for the right one to come along, so when I saw this Tina midi I new I had to have it! They are such a timeless piece of garment that has been around for years. Midi skirts were made famous in the 50’s, fast forward to 2019 and the pleated midi skirt is still going strong. I don’t think they will be going away anytime soon.
The only thing that has changed over the years is the way we style them. Who doesn’t love a versatile piece of garment that can be styled in so many different ways and for different occasions. This classic style of midi skirt is perfect for that. It can be paired with so many different pieces in order to create multiple outfits throughout the year!
In Mum Life this week it’s the boys end of term tomorrow, another school year has flown by. They have all grown and developed immensely in the past year. Eli is already 5.6″ at the right old age of twelve, just wondering how tall he will be when he finally stops growing! It is Wyatt’s last year at his Prep school and he will miss his friends who are venturing onto new schools. Zeke also has had a wonderful year at school and will miss his friends too. As a family we are also venturing on a new adventure for the next year or so and will be moving to Dubai.
Right lets get back to my attire at hand and to this beautiful Rixo midi skirt. The Tina skirt with the drop waist and pleated body is really flattering on most body types. You can either dress it up or dress it down with some white trainers/sneakers. Either way the Tina midi skirt is perfect for the summer months and one that is sure to get you noticed. It’s cut from houndstooth silk crepe de chine and sits flatteringly high on the waist. The sharp pleats and splits make the fabric move prettily with every step.
Moving on I decided to style the Tina midi skirt with my Mango white shirt. Absolutely love statement sleeve shirts and this one is no different. Love a white shirt as it makes the outfit look sharp, crisp and very much put together. The balloon sleeves gives the outfit it’s added statement, whites in summer is always a great choice.
So when it came to choosing a bag I couldn’t refuse opting for my Cult Gaia Millie rattan tote bag. I bought this bag from Net-A-Porter, and this is the brand’s answer to the spring’s straw bag trend. It is just as distinct and cool as their previous ones. This ‘Millie’ style is woven from beige rattan in a spherical silhouette with an equally rounded top handle. It has a linen lining patterned with the vivid print created in collaboration with Brazilian artist Lane Marinho. There is something so cool about this bag and I love carrying it around!
Next and onto my shoes, I went for these Strippy white sandals from TopShop. Now you would have seen this style everywhere from high end brands to your high street ones. These classic white stappy sandals have a stepped in heel. This creates a vintage inspired impact that makes an outfit look ultimately chic. They go perfectly with my ensemble and tie in beautifully with all the other white pieces I am wearing. You can style yours with denim as the barely-there heels are perfect for everyday wear.
As for my hat I went for this south beach straw boater number with black ribbon from ASOS. The all round straw hat that is suited to any location and not just the beach. The boater hat is much more of a formal hat and instantaneously makes an outfit in my opinion look chic and elegant, depending on what else you are wearing.
Finally for the finishing touches I am wearing my white aviator style sunglasses from Carrera. On my lips I chose to wear my matt nude lipstick (AGAIN, I know I just can’t get enough of it!) in the shade Teddy Bear from Lime Crime Velevtines.
