Good morning everyone, today’s ensemble is based around this Paisley Maxi Dress. Now this print is very familiar to me, growing up I would see my mother wearing shawls in this print. To this day she still has quite a few of them lying around. I for one don’t own any garments in this print apart from this maxi dress. Although I do still have my bandana’s which I used to wrap around my ponytail in the 90’s. Anyone else relate to this or was it just me?!
This ornate tear drop motif originated in Persia and made its way to Britain via India as early as the 17th century. Yes… thats’s how long this print has been around for. It made a welcomed return in 2018 and has still continued to hang around into 2019. Designers like Roberto Cavalli, Parabal Gurung, Christian Dior and Etro to name a few have included this print in their resort collection.
PAISLEY MAXI DRESS
The paisley print is the perfect alternative to florals and ginghams. Leave it to H&M to come up with one of the best Paisley maxi dresses, in my humble opinion. The dress is from their Conscious collection and comes in at Calf-length in an airy Tencel lyocell and viscose weave with a grandad collar, V-neck opening and concealed buttons down the front. Short sleeves with sewn-in turn-ups, a gathered seam at the waist and a flared skirt. It is slightly longer at the back and is unlined.
So when it came to styling this Paisley maxi dress, I decided to pick out the brown from the print. First off was to wear a belt to cinch me in at the waist, here I opted to wear my wide D&G tan coloured belt. This belt is several years old, but I love how it has these never ending holes. Which is ideal for me as I tend to find that most belts don’t do enough and I end up making my own holes so that the belt fits me. Yes even the smaller size belts, so it’s not from the lack of trying.
Next and onto my Maria Peixeira basket bag from Le Petite Sardine. Such a gorgeous bag with more than enough room for all my essentials, and to top that it comes with this beautiful pearl handle. Maria Peixeira is exclusively designed and produced by us using only wicker and respecting all the old techniques of production used in the Portuguese basketry. Wicker is a vegetable fibre that is both flexible and resistant, which gives it great durability.
The company works with fair trade artisans, especially with Portuguese artisans to craft authentic products. Each item is handcrafted and available in limited quantities. No two handmade items are exactly alike. Variations in colour, shading, texture, shape and grain are inherent in a handmade item, so this means that every handmade item we purchase is also one-of-a-kind.
Moving onto my shoes and to my Casatner Chiara Espadrilles from Net-A-Porter. You can see why I love them so much as they work with almost any outfit. Comfortable, yet elegant at the same time, they are a must have for Spring/Summer. Absolutely worth every penny in my opinion, as they are my most worn pair of shoes during the Spring/Summer months. You can see me wearing them in one of my previous posts Polka Dot Dress & Espadrilles.
For the finishing touches I am wearing my Carrera sunglasses which are in the aviator style with white handles. This ties in beautifully with the white of the paisley maxi dress. As for my watch I opted to wear my Venice Moonphase Rose Gold Mesh from Filippo Loreti . Finally on my lips I am wearing the shade Teddy Bear from Lime Crime Velvetines to complete my look.
