Good morning everyone, today’s ensemble is based around this gorgeous polka dot maxi dress. Polk dot’s are huge for Spring/Summer ’19, this trend is still going strong since last year. Like some you I wasn’t too sure and stayed away from it. I guess I was waiting for that right piece to come along and catch my eye. This dress for starters and now I can’t seem to stop looking at polka dot garments. As I sit here tapping away at my keyboard I can tell I have another Polka dot dress heading my way. A maxi polka dot dress doesn’t require that much effort when it comes to styling, hence the reason it is the hero purchase for summer.
However, there are so many different ways to incorporate this print into our wardrobes. Designers such as Rixo and Rejina Pyo being two who have combined two or more polka dot prints together to give another take on the trend. If you don’t fancy the overall polka dot look by all means go for accessories in this print.
In Mum Life, Wyatt is back from his residential trip and was exhausted, don’t think he got much sleep. The main thing is he had a wonderful time in Devon! They are all on half term this week so that has been keeping me busy to date.
POLKA DOT DRESS
So lets begin with this maxi polka dot dress from Zara, the dress features a crossover V-neckline, pleated detailing on the short sleeves and a matching fabric bow that ties to one side. This dress is perfect for summer as it is light weight and feels great on. When I think about my personal style I don’t think I follow any particular rules at all. I literally wear what makes me happy. I find myself most often wearing a statement piece that elevates my outfit. Whether it’s a statement pair of shoes, sunglasses or sleeves on a top or a dress. In this instance my polka dot dress which I can wear on a day to day basis and is a little bit more fun and flirty than a plain one.
Moving onto my shoes and here I have decided to style the polka dot dress with my Castaner Chiara Espadrilles from Net-A-Porter. Some of you may already be aware of by now, about how much I love to wear my Castaner’s during the Spring/Summer months. They are for sure my go to shoes to wear as they look great and also feel so comfortable to walk in. I mean what’s not to love about them. I for one can’t resist a pair of shoes with lace-ups and therefore I will keep on adding a few more Castaner’s to my already three pairs I own.
Next I opted for my Cult Gaia Millie rattan tote bag which I also bought from Net-A-Porter. This is the label’s answer to the spring’s straw bag trend, it is just as distinct and cool as their previous ones. This ‘Millie’ style is woven from beige rattan in a spherical silhouette with an equally rounded top handle. It has a linen lining patterned with the vivid print created in collaboration with Brazilian artist Lane Marinho.
So onto my sunglasses and to these Oval white pair from River Island. These are a few years old but I just love how instantaneously they elevate my outfits. They are the perfect statement worthy sunglasses in my opinion that cam make any simple outfit stand out.
Finally for the finishing touches for this look I opted to style my hair in a side parting and pull it back in a low pony tail. Completing my look I am wearing the shade Red Velvet from Lime Crime Velvetines on my lips. So there you have it, a look perfect for a garden party, wedding or if you are going to the races, just add a fascinator and you are ready to go.
