Good morning everyone, today’s attire is based round stying this sheer dress. Sheer clothing is one item that can be your best friend during the Spring/Summer months. When it comes to styling sheer dresses they can be rather tricky. A sheer dress is usually worn to show a glimpse of your skin or underwear, but for everyday wear this is not ideal or to everyone’s taste. Of course they look sexy, overexposing one’s self is not the only way to style the sheer dress. There are so many ways you can wear such a garment, whether you choose to layer it or if you are brave enough to bare it all. So having taken all that on board here is my take on and one way to style a sheer dress!
Lets not waste any time and begin on this beautiful sheer dress from Zara. Now like most of you the first thing that came to mind when I saw it was ‘oh this will be perfect for wearing as a cover up’. Now if you live in the UK like I do there isn’t much chance of wearing it to the beach specially in Spring! Even during the Summer months we rarely get great weather. Also I didn’t want to wait to go on vacation/holiday to wear it. So here I have opted to layer it to show you one way of styling this sheer dress. This white polka dot tulle dress comes in an a-line style with collars and long sleeves, also comes in black too if you are interested. It features matching soft-touch polka dot with contrast fabric trims and front button fastening.
I started off with my jeans, this blue denim pair is from H&M. It comes in a skinny high waisted style and I have customised this pair with some rips and frayed hems. So easy to do, all you need is to slit the jeans with a pair of scissors where your knees are and cut of the hems to a desired length. Then throw them into the washing machine and voila there you have it you very own ripped pair of jeans.
Next and onto my bodysuit which is from Karen Millen. This looks great under the sheer dress as it comes in a fitted style perfect for showing off my curves. The neck line is in a crew style which works wonderfully under the sheer dress. The bodysuit also comes in these long sleeves which are great for those chillier days for some added warmth.
As for my shoes I wanted to stick with white and therefore decided to go with these white transparent detailed, pointed toe court shoes from Dune London. They exude a timeless glamour and showcase a classic silhouette with the transparent trim detail. The heels come in a slim style and are quite high, that is fine be me as I’m a heel kinda gal. However, if you choose to style your sheer dress down wear shoes you feel comfortable in. You could easily go for some white trainers/sneakers which would work equally as well.
Moving onto my bag and after much contemplation about whether or not to go with a white bag I went for this tan coloured one from Modalu England instead. This mini bucket bag is one of the most desired shapes of the season. Available in a palette of timeless hues and crafted in sand texture leather, the bag is the epitome of clean, pared back style. It works rather well against the blue denim and the white. To tie in with my bag I wore a belt from H&M in a matching hue.
For the finishing touches, I am wearing my Carrera white aviator style sunglasses. These tie in beautifully with all the white I am wearing. Finally on my lips I went for my favourite nude from Lime Crime Velvetines in the shade Teddy Bear. And there you have it one way to style a sheer dress this Spring/Summer.
