Good morning everyone, today’s ensemble is based around this gorgeous H&M high waisted skirt. I find high waisted anything to be flattering for all shapes and sizes. This is one reason I am always drawn to them, another is that are extremely flattering. This waist defining style has proven to be a popular item in our wardrobes. There is no getting away from this style, this is apparent on the catwalks too. Year after year designers reinvent the high-waisted skirt from the A-line skater skirts that we have seen in the past to the recent leather styles and midi cuts.
Such a versatile and adaptable piece of garment, which I can wear in a number of ways. Whether I style it for work, for a casual day look or for a night out I know I am not going to be disappointed. I am loving how the high-waisted skirt can be seen from the catwalks to the street stylers on our feeds.
In Mum Life this week, Wyatt did his Piano Grade V a few days ago, he was a little nervous as he could have done with another week of practicing. All I can say is he played rather well and was happy with his performance. We have to wait a few week before we find out the results, on top of that he also has his Grade V Clarinet exam coming up in two weeks. So as you can imagine he has been extremely busy.
Eli has a Guitar ensemble performance coming up this week and is also performing in the Rock and Pop concert next week. A lot of upcoming music performances happening in our household. I have had to oversee the timings for practicing as it can get a little heated at time! Zeke performed in his end of year play last week and I may have already mentioned that in one of my previous posts. If I did sorry to share this with you again, it was their interpretation of Alice In Wonderland. I rather enjoyed it and all the children performed wonderfully!
HIGH WAISTED SKIRT
Right lets get back on track and to this Beige High Waisted Skirt from H&M. Like I mentioned earlier I love a high waisted skirt and this one is no different. There was a pair of trousers in the same colour which I originally wanted. However they did not have my size in stock, a few days later whilst browsing through the H&M website I came across this skirt. There was no hesitation in purchasing it as I knew it would the right fit for me. I waited for the package to arrive and within minutes I had unwrapped and tried on the skirt.
I was initially going to do an Insta story but that went out the window with the excitement of trying on the skirt. The skirt comes in sturdy cotton twill with a high, pleated paper bag waist. The wide fabric belt with a plastic buckle is detachable. It also has buttons which run down the front and a concealed hook-and-eye fasteners at the waist. This skirt is so versatile that it can be worn for work, for any day-time event as well as for a night out!
Next when it came to styling my high waisted skirt I decided to wear this black Karen Millen Bodysuit. I know most people stay away from bodysuits because they find them either clingy or uncomfortable. However, there is something so effortlessly chic and understated about bodysuits. Take the runway for instance Isabel Marant showed how useful a bodysuit can be when it comes to layering. The modern way to wear it is to team it with an oversized denim jacket, or layer it with a high waisted wide-leg trouser or a high waited skirt like I have here. For the evening a bodysuit can be worn underneath a tailored blazer and some high waisted palazzo trousers.
Moving onto my coat and here I have gone with my Karen Millen Camel Coat. I opted to drape this over my shoulders here. This is your classic camel coat which in my opinion is a must have in ones wardrobe. A piece that can be worn time after time and is very evident in my posts. On top of that it is a beautiful coat that will keep you warm and snuggly. Yet another item from Karen Millen which has been tailored to near perfection. I cannot express how well this fits. Made from premium Italian fabric, which is evident as to how soft it feels.
Onto this Bamboo Coffer bag from Mango. It’s nearly spring and with that in mind I thought it would be ideal to bring out the bamboo bag. Spring is the season for all your straw and bamboo bags to come out. The basket bag trend is not going away anytime soon. From oversized beach totes to your miniscule woven baskets, handbag designers have included straw, wicker, rattan and bamboo bags like mine into their collections. Around spring time without fail you will see these in high end stores as well as on the high street. I’m sure I am not the only one who finds themselves gravitating towards these cute bags that are irresistible. Don’t have to take my word for it just take a look on Instagram.
Then I chose to wear, yes you have guessed it, my Public Desire sock boots in black. These are fast becoming to be my most worn boots thus far. Take a look HERE to see other ways I have styled them. They are just so versatile and easy to wear that I couldn’t pass on them. The boots elongate my legs and is a pair of boots that fit me well without being gapy at the top.
Now for the finishing touches first off my trusted Le Specs sunglasses in the style Rapture. I bought them from Net-A-Porter and I’m sure many of you knew that already. Le Specs is a brand that I really admire for their sunglasses and find myself going back time and time again. On my lips I am wearing Teddy Bear from Lime Crime Velvetines to finish off my entire look.
