Good morning everyone, todays attire is based around this statement sleeve top from Solace London. Who else loves a statement sleeve top as much as me? I mean it the easiest way to amp up an outfit. Statement sleeves have been around for a number of seasons now and I don’t think they will be going away anytime soon. What ever style takes your fancy, whether it’s the puff sleeve, the ruffle sleeve or the sheer sleeve you are bound to stand out and make a statement.
Before I get started on my ensemble here is a little back story to Solace London. They are a British womenswear brand founded in 2013 by Laura Taylor and Ryan Holliday-Stevens. These two longtime friends and collaborators share a dynamic background. Which entails design, production, retail, marketing and creative direction. The proof is visible in their pieces that continuously blur the line between statement making and wearability. I for one absolutely adore this brand and find myself being drawn to their pieces time after time.
This is how the duo describe their aesthetic as “Bold, confident and refined, modern futurism balanced with timeless minimalism.” The finished garments are the result of a distinctly graphic collection which has been defined by precision cuts, craftsmanship and a signature look of sophistication. If you are someone who loves minimalism with a twist then you will not be disappointed with this brand.
Right lets begin with this Solace London Ruba top which is right on cue to take your new-season looks to cool new heights in a refined way. The top has been crafted in a versatile cream hue, this body-skimming crepe top features tiered ruffled sleeves that fall all the way to the wrist. Giving you that drama and sure to amp up any outfit without much effort. You could easily balance out the volume of the sleeves by pairing it with some slim jeans or a tailored pencil skirt for a dramatic finish.
Talking of tailored pieces I paired my Ruba top with these black belted city shorts from Karen Millen. This pair comes high waisted and I love how it pairs perfectly with the top. The shorts are tailored so well and fit comfortably. There is a corset detailing through the waist and interlaced belt detail with an eyelet trim. The shorts are fastened by an invisible zip at centre back. A beautiful pair of tailored shorts that can easily see you through from work-to-night.
Onto my blazer and to this oversized black one from Karen Millen. I draped this over my shoulders which is ideal to wear in this way as I wanted to show off my statement sleeve top. I mean clearly there was no option really, it would have been silly of me to try and put the ruffle sleeves into the blazer! As for the blazer, it has these gorgeous faux leather detailing around the neck area which gives the illusion of lapels. A must-have staple piece in my opinion as it works with almost all outfits! In this case just pulls my whole outfit together, well I think it does.
Next I opted to style the ensemble with my Public Desire black sock boots. Now I have been wearing this pair on repeat as they really do go with nearly all of my outfits. I wanted to keep everything else simple and let the statement sleeve top do all the talking. Hence the reason for opting two colours in this ensemble. These boots come in a super pointed toe with a stretch fit and stiletto heels. Another option would be to wear kitten heels if you don’t like high heels. By all means wear what you find most comfortable, for me these boots are ideal and feel very comfortable.
Moving onto my bag and after much deliberations I decided to go with my Rosie Modalu England bag. Such an opulent black bag that can elevate any outfit, it’s so chic and elegant with plenty of room and space. The shape of the bag is in a square silhouette and made from brushed velvet and satin fabric. Inside there is a triple compartment for all your essentials. Finishing off with a flap and the Modalu branded magnetic closure. Love the wide strap which can be worn cross body and therefore leaving my hands free.
For the finishing touches I wore my Rapture sunglasses from Le Specs in the Cat-Eye style. A great pair of oversized sunglasses, which are great for tired eyes as well as teary eyes for those days when it’s blustery. They are easily one of my favourite sunglasses to wear, you all know by now. Next I wore my black fedora hat from Whistles which gives the overall look some more edginess. Also keeps my head warm and my hair in place. So to finish off my look, on my lips I am wearing the shade Teddy Bear from Lime Crime Velvetines. A great mauve nude which is just gorgeous and I still can’t stop raving on about it.
