Good morning everyone, today’s ensemble is on these Zara side-stripe trousers. My overall look is also an all, well almost all camel attire. I don’t know about you but I always find a monochrome outfit to be rather elegant. Of course that totally depends on what you are wearing and how you style it. Now side-stripe trousers have been dominating for a few years now and there’s no getting away from them. However, If your like me and the athleisure trend isn’t your cup of tea, well don’t worry as this trend has come a long way since it’s beginning. Now we too can wear this piece of garment without compromising our style.
Usually the striped trousers are paired with the white trainer. All you have to do is take a look on Instagram to see the evidence. You will find most of your favourite Instagrammers wearing the side-stripe trousers with trainers/sneakers. When this look was first introduced at Gucci, it was styled with a sporty silk bombers in menswear. At Maison Margiela AW16, stripes were coming down the catwalk with buttons up the side. As for Marques’ Almeida monochrome stripes were layered with matching jackets and dresses for an all in one effect. So with this in mind, I opted to take inspirational from it and style my ensemble in this way. Even from the very beginning, the versatility of the stripe as a design choice is denoted. This in turn meant that despite its strictly linear existence, the stripe took on a versatile and flexible relationship.
Lets begin with these camel coloured wide leg trousers with the side-stripe which are from Zara. They come in a mid waist with false double welt back pockets. The trousers are ideal for work as they are tailored. Paired with a crisp white shirt they would work exceptionally well. Now this is not my first pair of side-strip trousers, you would have seen from my previous posts that this is my third pair. If you haven’t already then take a look HERE.
SWEATER WITH TIE-DETAIL
Now when it came to styling the side-stripe trousers there wasn’t any hesitation as to what I was going to pair it with. When I bought the trousers I opted to buy this roll neck sweater at the same time. Yes it’s another Zara piece, colour being one of the things that drew me to it. The main thing was the ties at the cuffs, this just makes the jumper a little quirky in my opinion. And since buying this jumper I have come across a few more jumpers in this style. The one that caught my eye is this wool blend turtle neck tie-detail sweater from Mother Of Pearl at Net-A-Porter.
When it comes to outer wear Karen Millen is my go-to, they always do the best in my opinion. This camel coat is one I have been wearing on repeat, and being a classic staple item I am sure to wear it year after year. This wool blend coat is fastened with a single-breasted black button closure. A gorgeous coat which lasts the test of time and the proof is in the detail as the coat is tailored to perfection.
As for my shoes I opted for these leopard print pair from Dune London. I rarely wear flats as I love my heels but here I thought they worked rather well with this ensemble. A cute pair of loafers that are perfect with a very low block heel. Ties in beautifully with the camel tones, adding another dimension to the look and elevating my everyday wear. The sleek and sophisticated design is complete with these satin black laces.
Speaking of black laces, when it came to choosing a bag to style with this outfit, I decided to go with my black Modalu England Rosie bag. Black being the contrasting colour here, this bag needs no introduction, as you would have seen me wearing it previously. The Rosie shoulder bag is such an opulent black bag that can transform any ensemble, it’s so chic and elegant with plenty of room and space. The bag is in a square silhouette and made from brushed velvet and satin fabric. Inside there is a triple compartment for all your essentials. Finishing off with a flap and the Modalu branded magnetic closure. Love the wide strap which can be worn cross body like I have here, therefore leaving my hands free.
Moving onto my sunglasses and to these black pair from Nordstrom by Adam Selman x Le Specs in the style Scandal. A cat-eye pair which I have been loving since it was gifted to me. You know me I can’t resist a pair of cat-eye sunglasses and this one is no different. I am a big admirer of this brand and this is my fourth pair of sunglasses from them. Why not take a look HERE for a few more selections of cat eye sunglasses.
Finally for the finishing touches I am wearing Ruby Woo lipliner from M.A.C. topped with Crimson Noir by Tom Ford. On my nails I am wearing the shade Dovima from NARS which ties in with my lip colour and finishes of my overall look.
