Good morning everyone, today’s ensemble is based around this gorgeous Topshop midi dress. So it looks like my love of monochrome in black and white is not going away anytime soon. The sun is out and shining brightly, but don’t be fooled as I nearly got blown away this morning whilst dropping the boys off at school. Ok that might be a little exaggeration but my hat did fly off my head and thats no lie. Had to chase after it into the middle of the road which Zeke found hilarious might I add! Now back at home and trying to finish off this post so that I can do the other things I need to complete today on my to-do list.
I don’t know about you and midi dresses, but I find them to be very versatile and one that can be worn all year round. Take this houndstooth pleated midi skater dress from Topshop. This is a dress which I can see myself wearing time after time. For me that is very important, the dress is perfect for a daytime event as well as for the evening. Now what drew me to this dress initially was the pleats, I’m a sucker for pleats but it has to look right. That being said I also adore and have a thing for neck-tie detailing.
So this dress really ticked all the boxes for me, first and foremost it’s monochrome. Second of all it has pleats and last but not least the neck-tie detailing. Therefore I had no hesitation purchasing it, I mean whats not to love. The pleated skirt makes it appear more expensive than it is and the dress is finished off with these beautiful balloon sleeves.
ROLL NECK JUMPER
Now when it came to styling this Topshop midi dress it was rather easy. Layering for me is always a piece of cake, so here I opted to wear my white Zara roll neck jumper underneath the dress. If you want you can choose a black or any other colour of your choice. This white roll neck is your basic ribbed jumper and is ideal for layering under dresses. During the winter months they are just perfect for layering as they are not that thick. Personally for me I like to be warm and not overly hot, as this tends to make me feel dizzy. Anyone else feel the same?
Next I draped over my shoulders my Karen Millen black blazer. This is an oversized blazer and is ideal for wearing over layers of garments. Of course should I be outside for a long period of time I would definitely wear it instead of draping it over my shoulders. The blazer has these faux leather detailing around the neck area which gives the illusion of lapels. A must-have staple piece in my opinion as it works with almost all outfits!
Moving onto my sock boots and to these black pair which are from Public Desire. They are the black version to my leopard print pair which you would have seen me wear in my previous posts. If you haven’t then HERE is the link to one of my post. These come in a super pointed toe with a stretch fit and stiletto heels.
Right next I opted to style my black Modalu England Rosie shoulder bag with my Topshop midi dress. This is such an opulent black bag that can transform any ensemble, it’s so chic and elegant with plenty of room and space. The bag is in a square silhouette and made from brushed velvet and satin fabric. Inside there is a triple compartment for all your essentials. Finishing off with a flap and the Modalu branded magnetic closure. Love the wide strap which can be worn cross body and therefore leaving your hands free.
Onto the accessories and first off my Karen Millen belt. I love to wear this belt as it never fails to elevate my outfits and also gives me some shape too. My white sunglasses are my River Island pair which are an oval shape and keep in theme with my monochromatic look. On my lips I am wearing Cherry lipliner from M.A.C followed on top by Crimson Noir from Tom Ford. As for my nails I am wearing the shade Dovima from NARS to complete my overall outfit.
