Good morning everyone, today’s ensemble is based on this yellow slip dress. Yellow is SS19’s hottest colour and you will be seeing it everywhere if you haven’t already! Its was a firm favourite during the Spring 2019 runways at New York Fashion Week. There was about twenty different designers who incorporated this hue into their collections. From the likes of Kate Spade New York, Self-Portrait and Monse to name a few.
Another trend that is currently hot is the Slip dress, this has been a firm favourite on the fashion scene since the early 90’s. Made famous by none other then Kate Moss who wore a silver sheer slip dress back then. Now it is proving that it has the staying power and is not likely to be going away anytime soon. This is my second slip dress and there is an array of colours for you to get you hands on, not to mention the styles too!
So here is my take on these two trends. Right lets begin with this yellow slip dress which is from Zara. The dress features a cowl neckline with adjustable strap and is in a midi length. I have styled mine here for a daytime look. You could also wear yours with a pair of sneakers/trainers for a more casual look. For the evening remove the layering and pair it with some strappy sandals and a coat draped over your shoulders.
ROLL NECK JUMPER
Next I decided to team my yellow slip dress with my black roll neck jumper. This jumper is from Karen Millen and comes in a chevron design. Layering is the way to go for a daytime look and specially at this time of year as it’s rather chilly.
LEOPARD PRINT BOOTS
After much deliberation on what shoes to wear, I opted for these Public Desire leopard print sock boots. The boots give the overall look that edge I am looking for and also works really well with the dress. They are very similar to the Balenciaga Knife boots and dare I say it very comfortable to walk in considering the high heels.
Moving onto my waist belt which is another Karen Millen piece. This black belt gives me some shape by cinching me in at the waist and makes the overall outfit look put together in my opinion. I personally prefer a wider waist belt then a thin one, by all means go for whichever one you prefer!
Now onto the accessories, I wanted to keep everything black and therefore opted for my Modalu Rosie bag. A gorgeous bag in a square silhouette which is made from brushed velvet and satin fabric. An opulent black bag that can transform any ensemble, so chic and elegant with plenty of room and space as it comes with a triple compartment inside for all my necessities. Finishing off with a flap and the Modalu branded magnetic closure. A sleek and beautiful bag which works rather well here with the yellow slip dress.
Finally I wore my black Le Specs sunglasses in the style Rapture. Now you all know by now that my ensemble is not finished unless I am wearing my shades! Absolutely adore these cat-eye pair as you already know from my previous posts. For the finishing touches I wore Lime Crime Velvetines in the shade Red Velvet on my lips. I am wearing my Filippo Loreti Rose Gold Watch in the style Venice Moonphase, and to complete the look my cylinder gold ring from AUrate New York.
