Good morning everyone, today’s ensemble is on brown hues and based around my Minnetonke boots. Ever since I saw Kate Moss wearing them I have wanted to get a pair for myself. Did you know that their front lace knee high boots is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this year?! Moccasins hit the nail on the head for comfy autumnal boots. They are a great value and are extremely comfortable to wear. Also a very versatile pair of boots that can be worn perfectly with items that are already in your wardrobe. Such as leggings, skinny jeans and skirts. Now, with celebrities and high-fashion designers embracing moccasins, they also deliver a nice fashion statement, too!
Before I get started on my ensemble let me give you a little background to Minnetonke boots. It all began back in 1946 in a gift shop, moccasins were sold along side glassware and postcards. Americans would take to the highways in search of natural wonders, roadside attractions and would return home wearing Minnetonka moccasins. At the time the starting price for moccasins was $3.80.
The iconic Thunderbird moccasin was introduced in 1955 and featured the legendary creature considered a supernatural bird of power and strength. One of the fashion favourites during the 1980’s Urban Cowboy trend. It is one of the most iconic style for the brand and is highly recognised around the world.
Heading into the 1960’s and the summer of love in 1967 the hippy culture redefined American identity through their individuality. One of the ways they expressed themselves and showcased their spirit was through style, and by wearing the Classic Fringed Boot.
Fast forward to 1986 and Minnetonka introduced their first Driving Moccasins. Not only were they the go-to driving shoes, but also the perfect fashion statement pair that was comfortable and on tend at the time.
Minnotonke styles led the way for the boho chic lifestyle. As I stated earlier I first spotted the Minnetonke knee high boots on Kate Moss at a music festival. The front lace knee high boot was originally introduced in 1968 and made a revival in the mid-2000’s and this year it is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary.
The brand is very proud of it it’s independent status, being a 4th generation family-run business. They are very much dedicated to preserving the unique hand craftsmanship of their products. A brand that practices sustainable employment and ensures to continue to produce the highest quality products for generations to come. So what’s not to love about the brand, with all that history and the fact that the boots are so comfortable to wear, how could I resist.
Right so lets get back to my attire and how I opted to style these brown Minnetonke boots in the 3-layer fringe. The three layers of suede fringe wrap all the way around, swaying with my every step for a little flirty fun. These suede leather boots meet mid-calf and are perfect for pairing with your favourite mini skirt, leggings, skinny jeans or skinny trousers. Why not take a look HERE for a few more selection of suede boots.
Speaking of trousers, I did just that and chose to wear these gorgeous camel coloured checked trousers from Zara. They come in a mid waist fit with a gathered ruffle trim on the pockets. Adore how this little touch just gives the trousers a feminine touch and that extra flare! It also features false welt pockets in the back and a metal hook, inside button and zip fastening in the front. The fit for me is just a tad bit loose but in this instance this works well with my overall look. The camel colour running through the trousers is what drew me to them in the first place, and is in theme with my colour palette.
Next I wore my white Mango shirt with the statement balloon sleeves. With the weather being rather cold I had to layer up. Therefore I decided to wear my brown vest jumper on top followed by my husband’s brown cardigan. Yes you heard right the cardigan belongs to my husband, and works well here as I was going for that oversized look.
To cinch me in around the waist I wore my D&G tan coloured belt to give a little shape. As for my bag this mini bucket one from Modalu is one of the most desired shapes of the season. Available in a palette of timeless hues and crafted in sand texture leather, the bag is the epitome of clean, pared back style. So for the finishing touches I wore my Carrera sunglasses and on my lips my go-to nude shade Teddy Bear. There you have it the finished look, now time for some gift wrapping before it’s time to pick the boys up from school!
