Good morning everyone, todays ensemble is on how to style a maxi dress for Autumn. Now some of you might be thinking why would you want to wear a maxi when its cold and freezing? Well I say why not like any other garment you wear during the colder months the art of staying warm is to layer. So that is what I have done with my maxi dress to ensure that I stay warm and not freeze my ass off. The bonus here is that there is no need to buy a new maxi dress just wear your favourite ones from summer!
Lets get straight onto my maxi dress and to this gorgeous Mango Mariam Dress from last year. This was the “IT” dress and you may or may not have seen it on a whole heap of bloggers. Unfortunately for me I couldn’t not find the dress in my size. I wanted the dress so badly that I bit the bullet and said what the hell and went for a size 10 instead. My aim here is to wear the maxi dress oversized and I can safely say I am overjoyed with the outcome! If you are interested I have found this dress on the Mango Outlet website and they still have these sizes 8-14 available and it also happens to be 40% off the original price. You are welcome and you can thank me later!
How gorgeous is the colour, in this yellow autumnal tone with purple flowers. Such a versatile dress and an absolute investment piece for your wardrobe and one that can be worn all year round! Now that’s what I call cost per wear. It’s a very light weight dress that has just high enough slits to give you that edgy vibe.
Like I mentioned earlier the best way to style the maxi dress for Autumn would be to layer it. So with this in mind, one of my favourite layering items is a roll neck jumper. This black ribbed one is from non other than Karen Millen. A cozy knitwear with long sleeves and skinny chevron rib design, it’s from their A/W18 collection. A perfect knit jumper that fits snugly and feels so soft and comfortable. If black is not your colour of choice then why not take a look HERE for some alternatives.
Moving on and to my leopard print boots which are from Public Desire. These are a close dupe for the Balenciaga knife boots. Now a pair of biker boots teamed here with the maxi dress would also work for a more relaxed look. However it’s ‘Lovely’ your taking to and the high heel is more my style and therefore works rather well with this maxi dress. Adding another print just gives the overall look some instant cool girl vibes. If you wanted to go for a non print pair of boots, then I would suggest opting for a purple pair. This will pick up the beautiful purple flowers on the maxi dress and tie in the whole look in my opinion.
Next I decided to cinch in my waist with a belt. This black one is from Karen Millen and is from a few season back. Absolutely adore how it elevates the overall look and also gives me some shape too! As for my sunglasses I grabbed my Le Specs cat-eye pair in the Rapture style. This ties in beautifully with black roll neck jumper and the black waist belt.
Finally I opted for this bag which is vintage and is in a light aubergine colour. So cute it reminds me of a miniature brief case. Finishing off the look I wore a nude shade of lipstick, and I am sure I don’t have to mention it again but I will for those that don’t know. It is in the shade Teddy bear from Lime crime Velvetines. So there you have it my take on styling a maxi dress for Autumn.
