Good morning everyone, today’s attire is based on this T-Shirt dress and how to style it during the Autumn/Fall months. I know it’s a firm favourite during the summer months and a very easy item to style in my opinion. Throw on sneakers/trainers, heels, boots or whatever you want, because most likely, it’ll all go with the street style vibe. However during Autumn/fall it can be a little trickier, the key thing here is to layer.
In Mum Life the boys are now back at school and it’s the lead up to Halloween. So I have been asked to buy two Penny Wise costumes. Yes the character from the movie and book ‘IT’. One is for Wyatt and the other is for Zeke. We have so many costumes in our house but each year I have to buy new ones! On the other hand Eli doesn’t want a costume or go trick or treating this year. His exact words were ‘it’s boring, but I will have some of Zeke and Wyatt’s candy!’
Right lets get back to this T-Shirt ensemble at hand and to my white T-Shirt dress which is from Zara. It’s your basic tee which has these beautiful pearl buttons. You can’t see them in the pictures here but they are featured on the side of the tee and goes half way up from the slit. A great addition to a simple white Tee!
I opted to style the T-Shirt dress with these knee high black boots which are from Carvela at Kurt Geiger. The style of the boot is called Whirl and if you are interested they are on sale now and they have quite a few of the sizes in stock. A great pair of boots that would lift any outfit whether it be a crisp workwear or a laid back weekend attire. The material is in this gorgeous butter-soft suede with a smooth lining which adds to the comfort. This tall boot is detailed only with light tonal stitching, and has tapered mid heels which are very comfortable to walk in. It also has pointed toes which create a chic silhouette and works rather well here as I didn’t want to bear my whole legs.
Another option would have been to wear some socks with a heeled pair of shoes. This would elevate the look to street style level. However this may not be to everyones taste but thats ok. I would say to give it a try and see how you feel about it before dismissing it completely. When I was younger I remember my mum wearing socks with her shoes, but for her it had nothing to do with style or fashion, she just wanted to stay warm. So with this 90’s trend being hotter than ever, socks have gone from being not seen to being an important accessory. Who would have thought it hey!
Moving on I decided that I would layer my T-Shirt dress by wearing a blazer on top. My current go to black blazer is this one from Karen Millen. The blazer has these faux leather detailing around the neck area which gives the illusion of lapels. It’s an oversized blazer and one that works perfectly here.
Next I wanted to show off my waist and therefore wore my black Karen Millen waist belt to cinch me in. This belt comes in two contrasting material, half faux leather and the other half in suede with a turn lock fastening at the front.
As for my bag I couldn’t resist my Bamboo coffer bag from Mango. Such a cute little bag which is so handy I really love carrying it around. Although any variation of straw bag would work rather well here. The bag has a pretty blue and white inner lining, adjustable and detachable long strap. The design of the bag is very rigid and sturdy in the bamboo material. I have opted to wear it without the strap here, as I felt there would be too much going on if I wore the bag crossbody.
For the finishing touches I grabbed my River Island white oval sunglasses. I find that this instantaneously makes this ensemble look more fashion forward in my opinion. These are my ‘Willy Wonker’ sunglasses no this time my husband didn’t name them, I actually did. On my lips I wore Teddy Bear from Lime Crime Velvetines. And finally finishing off my look I grabbed my umbrella as it was raining and thus completing my attire.
