Good morning everyone, today’s attire is on these cigarette trousers and vest coat. I am channeling my inner Audrey Hepburn here (Funny Face) minus the vest coat. Suiting is one of the hottest garments during Autumn/Winter and cigarette trousers are a season staple. They are for sure having a fashion moment and all of us can wear them so long as they are the right cut and fit. Cigarette trousers were first seen back in the 1950’s and the style was made famous by none other than Audrey Hepburn. So it’s no surprise that such a tailored piece of garment is still in style today and why so many of us love to wear them.
In Mum Life this week, as I have mentioned in my previous post the boys are off on their half term. The week has flown by and we all feel like we need another week. I guess thats because they still had their after school activities during this time so it did not feel like they were completely off school. I am not looking forward to the morning drop off tomorrow, I can safely say I have enjoyed not having to rush in the mornings. Just sorted out all their pencil cases and have told them to pack their bags ready for tomorrow. Now I have a few things I need to iron and I shall be tending to that as soon as I finish this post!
Right so lets get back to the ensemble at hand and to these cigarette trousers which are from H&M. I must admit I have bought three pairs in this style, well when you find the right fit and cut you must get it in at least three colours right? Also they are very good on the price point so your not breaking the bank. The trousers come in a stretch weave material with a fly and a hook-and-eye fastener. It has a regular waist with side pockets and tapered legs. Needless to say I have gone for the most classic option here in black.
I then paired the cigarette trousers with my Karen Millen ribbed roll neck jumper. A cozy knitwear with long sleeves and a skinny chevron rib design. It fits so snugly and feels so soft and comfortable. The perfect match in my opinion. This jumper is from their A/W18 collection and they have some gorgeous pieces so why not take a look here.
After much deliberation on what coat I was going to wear, I decided on this old season Zara Vest Coat. Absolutely adore this vest coat and one that always gets a lot of compliment when I wear it. A perfect coat when it comes to showcasing ones sleeves specially the statement kind. It has these big eyelets at the front and comes with a ribbon. You could fasten it by doing a criss cross detail all the way down. If that doesn’t take your fancy then just tie it in a bow in the middle. Or another option, just don’t use the ribbon at all and or leave it undone like I have here. The coat is knee length long and I find that to be a perfect length for me. The material on this is eyelet vest coat is very thick and therefore keeps me warm during this season.
Following on from the vest coat I wanted to tie in the look and keep the black colour theme going. So I styled the ensemble with these Ego Official black lace up flats. If you have been following me you will know by now that I have a thing for tie-up and lace-up shoes. So it’s no surprise I opted for these. Much to my delight they come with the buckle detailing at the front and in the suede material.
As for my bag I was looking for one in my collection that would works with this look and one that wasn’t in the colour black. Therefore I decided to go with my Birdcage… sorry couldn’t resist. This is the Dome bag from Cult Gaia which works rather well here with this all black ensemble.
For the finishing touches I wore Lime Crime Velvetines lipstick in the shade Teddy Bear. I know I have been banging on about this shade now for a while but it truly is a gorgeous nude. Next I grabbed my ASOS cat-eye sunglasses in black. Finally on my head went my Topshop baker boy hat and voila all ready to hit the town.
