Good morning everyone, today’s attire is based on this contrast stitching shirt dress. Contrast stitching and refined details is a growing trend you will see this Autumn/Winter season, giving a sophisticated twist to your basics that needs an update. Also, one thing to keep in mind is that contrast stitching in dark denim, can make your silhouette appear slimmer.
Contrast stitching has been seen on catwalks across Louis Vuitton, Valentino and Stella McCartney, and since then it has made its way into the high street with the likes of Zara and Topshop selling suits, trousers and a lot of denim with the contrast stitch detail. So with that in mind when I got to collaborate with Pure Collection on their A/W18 collection, this gorgeous black contrast stitching dress is was one I instantly gravitated towards.
Before I start talking about the dress here is a little insight into Pure Collection. Fifteen years ago the goal for founders of Pure Collection Nick Falkingham and Adam Holdsworth was to have, “The world’s finest cashmere, sensibly priced and expertly crafted into beautiful, modern styles to make and look terrific.” This goal still remains at the heart of what they do today.
Pure Collection cashmere is sourced from goats in Mongolia. Right from the start they have nurtured their relationships with the herders and have worked directly with them. So to ensure that superb quality at a price that’s fair and right. They have also been at the forefront of sustainable farming since 2008. Pure Collection have pioneered a farming programme which tackles the root cause of desertification caused by overgrazing in the Mongolian grasslands. By providing an incentive for herders to feed their goats on a nutritious feed. Therefore grazing on ecologically sensitive grasslands is minimised. Pure are proud to support the very important work of the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation (CNCF) in Mongolia. Now there’s an ethos after my own heart, what’s not to love!
Lets begin on my ensemble and to this beautiful contrast stitching black dress from the A/W18 Collection. This classic shirt dress is truly perfect for any occasion, whether its worn for the office or for a night out, it is very versatile and flattering too. Finished with a neat collar, a matching tie belt and front button fastening. Now what really elevates this dress is the gorgeous contrast stitch detail.
Next and onto my boots, I decided I would style these stunning black velvet Reign ankle boots from KG Kurt Geiger with the shirt dress. This gorgeous design features light top stitching, a slick pointed toe, a concealed zip which features a gold-tone puller. Finishing off with the cylindrical heel with a gold-tone ribbed finish, just the thing for offsetting the pitch black uppers.
Moving onto my hat and this fedora from Whistles. Around this time of year hats are a must for me in adding to my look and also for keeping me warmer too. This black fedora is just the ideal hat for a brunch or lunch and just elevates the overall look of the outfit.
For the finishing touches I wore my gold Cylinder ring from AUrate New York. On my lips I wore the shade Red Velvet from Lime Crime Velvetines to give a pop of colour and round off my whole ensemble.
We know that power dressing and suit’s have continued to be a big trend over the past year but adding a small detail of the contrast stitch freshens this trend and makes it even more of a statement. So here are a few more contrast stitching garments.
