Good morning everyone, todays attire is on the check on check look and takes its cue from these trousers. Ok so it may be twenty three years since Clueless hit the big screens, and its seems that the film’s sartorial influence is still going strong. This Autumn, whether it’s Plaid, Prince of Wales heritage or tartan, checks in all variations are a key. The likes of Calvin Klein had a more Americana-inspired plaid, whilst Erdem incorporated classic Prince of Wales checks into their collection. As for Versace they took their inspiration from the 90’s and from Clueless.
So why not channel your inner Cher or Dionne by opting for an iconic checked outfit. The good news is the bolder, the better, however if this is a bit too loud for you, there’ll always be the traditional navy, green and red tartan hues you can go for. Adding a bit of playful colour is totally on trend this season, here I have taken a subtle approach with my check on check ensemble.
Now lets begin with these gorgeous camel coloured checked trousers from Zara. These check trousers were my base to styling this whole look. They come in a mid waist fit with a gathered ruffle trims on the pockets. Adore how this little touch just gives the trousers a feminine touch and that extra flare! It also features false welt pockets in the back and a metal hook, inside button and zip fastening in the front. The fit for me is just a tad bit loose but in this instance this works well with my overall look. The camel colour running through the trousers is what drew me to them in the first place.
Next I decided to style the check trousers with this white puffed sleeve shirt from Mango. Just elevates the look and makes it look so much more sharp and crisp in my opinion. Who doesn’t love a statement sleeve shirt? I for one can’t get enough of them and always find that they always elevate my outfits. With buttoned cuffs and invisible button fastening running through the front.
On to the shoes and I opted for theses nude platforms from Kurt Geiger. This just keeps within the colour scheme and the platform ties in beautifully with my dome bag. These are rather high heeled but as they are in the platform style are comfortable to wear and walk around in. I could have easily have gone for some lower heeled nude courts like these ones here. For me the nude platforms visually looked great and it’s how I envisaged the overall look. They worked rather well on I tried them on and just added to the lengthening of my legs.
Taking the camel colour from the trousers I decided I would style it with this Karen Millen coat. I could not get over how gorgeous this Heritage Check Double-Breasted coat is. I still can’t, it’s a perfect check coat which is a must-have in my wardrobe. It is tailored to perfection in my opinion and sits so well on my shoulders and pulls the whole look together.
Moving onto my beautiful Cult Gaia Dome bag from Shopbop. This version of the bag is structured from lightweight bamboo in a curved silhouette. Just adore how the handles neatly collapse when its not in use. The bag is big enough to fit all my essentials and there is no need to worry about anything falling out either. A perfect sized bag in my opinion and I am loving it!
As for the finishing touches I wore my Carrera aviator style sunglasses. I wore the shade Teddy Bear from Lime Crime Velvetines on my lips. A gorgeous mauve nude which nicely finishes off my entire check on check ensemble.
Here are few suggestions of check skirts, trousers and coats.
