Good morning all, and it really is a beautiful morning, the sun is out and is already 22 degrees celsius. We are expecting the temperature to sore, not complaining just going to enjoy it! So that in mind I have decided to go with bold stripes for my outfit. More specifically, I’m reaching for the brightest and the most eye-catching stripes I can find. I thought it’s about time to amp up that seasonal wardrobe of mine with a fun take on the classic pattern.
There tends to be a variety of bold stripes garments that come in knit. Of course not ideal for warmer days but here in the U.K. it tends to be cooler most of the time. So think of rainbow ribbed tops, skirts, and dresses alike. Here I have gone for a dress which is not in the knit material, and you can find vast amount of pieces similar to mine.
In Mum Life this week, it’s been very busy leading up to the end of the school year. Eli had his fiver challenge, the aim is to come up with a business idea and then sell your product. You have £5.00 to spend and Eli decided to pool his £5.00 with three other friends. They decided to sell Slushi’s and popcorns and I can tell you they did rather well making a profit of £171.00 of which they gave £71.00 to Cancer Research and then split the £100.00 amongst the four of them.
Zeke has been engrossed in the Mathletic’s challenge as he wants to be number one in the world! I did mention he was my most competitive child. He is so focused on getting the points that he needs. Up early in the morning jumping onto the computer and then again straight after school. A very determined boy, long may it continue I say!
Wyatt on the other hand has been working on making his own comic book. He really is very good at drawing and I encourage him to keep practicing. He enjoys drawing comics and has started to turn it into a book. I have mentioned to him that once he finishes it we shall get it printed for him so he can have a hard copy.
Lets move onto my ensemble and this beautiful bold stripe dress which I bought from Karen Millen a few seasons ago. This is a well fitted pencil dress which has blue, white, black and green stripes on it. I have to say a pencil dress is my favourite style of dress. It fits me like a glove and accentuates my figure. The dress is a midi length just falling at the knee for me, depending on your height it may be longer or shorter. Such a pretty outfit for a summer wedding, brunch, high tea or just on a night out!
As I was heading out for an afternoon tea with my friend. I decided I would pair the Karen Millen dress with my white transparent detailed, pointed toe court shoes from Dune London. These exude a timeless glamour and showcase a classic silhouette with the transparent trim detail. The heels are in your slim style and are high, I prefer heels than flats so for me this is just right for an afternoon of tea. Of course you can style it with which ever types of shoes you are most comfortable in.
Next I opted for my white oval sunglasses from River Island. These have had so much wear and I am still loving them as you can see. A great pair of sunglasses that always elevates my overall look and just adds another dimension to the style.
Moving onto my bag and I went for my Missguided bag with out the straps this time. I wanted to keep all the accessories white and this bag seemed to be the perfect choice. It is big enough to carry all my essentials yet cute at the same time. With a fold over magnetic closure and a silver eyelet at the front.
Onto the finishing touches and to my nails first. Just adore wearing this shade of blue from OPI Nails. The shade is called ‘I Believe In Manicure’ and is inspired by the Tiffany Blue. Such a pretty colour and during the Spring/Summer months I just can’t get enough of it!
Finishing off my look here with my Teddy Bear by Lime Crime Cosmetics nude lipstick. Great for a daytime look and for the night too, by all means go for which ever shade you prefer.
Here are a few more suggestions on wearing the bold stripes trend:
1: Tops; Go retro with a bold stripe top, pair it with either a mini skirt or some high waisted trousers. Add some heels or flats depending on what you prefer or what is more comfortable. The finishing touch? Add a pair of sunglasses to complete the look.
2. Trousers; You can either go for stripes on stripes with a top, or go for something plain on top. Go for structured but feminine accessories to keep things classic.
3. Jumpsuits; For an all over statement go for a jumpsuit, you can either style it up with some heels for weddings or style it down with some flats for a day time look.
4. Skirts; Step up your skirt game for a night out. Opt for a brightly striped bottom paired with a classic and simple top. Add a pair of heeled sandals and grab a clutch, and you’re set to go!
