Good morning everyone, hope you are all good. I’m feeling a little tired this morning, a little busier than normal this week. I think an early night tonight to catch up on my sleep should do the trick. For me I feel that stripes and summer go hand in hand. Today’s look is all on stripes, of course you don’t have to be visiting the French Riviera to wear them. Here is one of my stripes outfit and I have gone for a full on stripes on stripes look. Keep an eye out for the next stripes look which I will be sharing with you all fairly soon. You don’t have to go for just the black and white or the blue and white combinations, there are so many varieties to choose from.
In mum life this week, Eli will be performing in his schools production of Joseph and The Technicolour Dream coat. Finally after weeks of rehearsals its here, and he just wants to perform it as there has been a lot of waiting around for him and many of the other children. We are so looking forward to it as they will be performing it in the school theatre.
As for Wyatt I had to pick him up from school yesterday as he was feeling nauseuos again. I think he has some kind of food allergy and therefore getting him tested to find out. Poor thing has cut out most things that make him feel sick at school and there is not a lot of variety left for him to choose from. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this as soon as possible.
Zeke visited Butser Ancient Farm as part of their history lessons. Butser Ancient Farm is a unique experimental archaeology site nestled into the rolling countryside of the South Downs National Park. The farm features archaeological reconstructions of ancient buildings from the Stone Age, Iron Age, Roman Britain and the Anglo-Saxon period. He really enjoyed the visit. Thanks to a parent who went on the trip with them I got to see how involved he was. She was kind enough to send me some pictures of the day.
Lets get started on my ensemble. The whole look started off with this high waisted paper bag shorts which are from Zara. I find high waisted to be very flattering for me, making my legs appear to be longer than they actually are. The shorts are perfect for this time of year and for going away on vacation. With an elasticated waist and tied belt to cinch you in. It has side pockets too and welt pockets in the back.
So onto my top and here I wanted a stripe on stripe look. This top is from Mango and comes in a flowy fabric. Therefore loving the puffed long sleeves finished with the buttoned cuffs. Also the neck is rounded and has a bow fastening on the back.
Next I opted for my Castaner Carina canvas wedge espadrilles which I purchased from Net-A-Porter. So gorgeous and I absolutely adore wearing them around this time of year. This stone canvas ‘Carina’ pair has a traditional woven jute heel and elegant ties at the ankle. Works so beautifully with this look and gives it a chic vibe in my opinion. You could opt for some trainers/sneakers too as that would work rather well!
Moving onto my bag and this vintage small bag. It is just so cute and not that practical as I can’t fit everything in it like my iPhone. I can always put my phone in my pocket or carry it in my hands. Then onto my black fedora hat and this one is from Whistles. I bought this one on sale last year at a fraction of the cost.
Before heading out I grabbed my Blazer which is from Zara. It is in the Ecru colour and instantly elevates the look and for chillier evenings is just perfect. Next I put on my white oval sunglasses from River Island. Finishing off the look I wore my Red Velvet lipstick on top of Teddy Bear. Both these lipsticks are from Lime Crime and their Velvetines collection. My nail polish is in Alpine White from OPI.
Here are few of my suggestions on wearing stripes:
1. Trousers with stripes: Whether you go for just the side stripes or for the full on high waisted kind, here are a few to inspire you.
2. Tops with stripes: You could start off with black and white stripes like I have done before moving on to bold colours. Or you could go for these stripy styles, which feature thick lines with intense colours, and are daring and chic. Here are few of my picks, which ones would you choose?
3. Jumpsuits in stripes: If there is one closet hero you absolutely need this season, it is a classic jumpsuit. A fashion girl’s favourite, jumpsuits are forever-chic, and can be worn for any occasion. They are a sophisticated and effortless wardrobe staple that show off your style. So why not try out these ones in stripes!
4. Swimsuits in stripes: The stripe trend has now extended to swimwear, as we keep seeing jolly, colourful one-pieces and bikinis. So far, these are proving just as popular as other garments. I am really loving these one pieces and cannot wait to get my hands on a few for my upcoming holiday/vacation.
