Happy Monday everyone! I have just finished doing the school run. It was a difficult one this morning after having a week off, I’m sure by tomorrow we will be back in the swing of things. One of my favourite things to wear is a white shirt and blue denim combo. A pair of light wash jeans and a crisp white shirt is just what I adore. Such an easy outfit to put together for the school run if you happen to be one of those mums that doesn’t go to the gym first thing in the morning like me.
In Mum Life this week, I shall start off with Wyatt as he has a singing performance tomorrow and will be singing the Bruno Mars song ‘When I was your man’. I for one can not wait as he has been practising the song for a while now. My only concern for him is that he is suffering from hay fever and has a bunged up nose. He is a perfectionist and can get upset about things like this as he wants the performance to be perfect. I have told him that its all a learning curve and he should just try his best given the circumstances. Hope he takes my advice on this!
As for Eli, his year are still rehearsing their play Joseph and The Technicolour dream coat, which we can finally go and view on the 15th of this month. As for Zeke he has been busy making a poster about Chile for geography. To be honest I didn’t know much about Chile myself, so it was great researching about the country and finding about its landmarks. I must say Chile sounds and looks like an amazing country and I would love to visit the place someday in the not so distance future.
Lets get back to ensemble at hand, my white shirt and blue denim combo. In my opinion you simply can’t go wrong with a white and blue denim outfit. Not only is this look fabulously chic and easy, it’s also a tried and tested fuss-free way to ensure you’re on trend, particularly if you’re in a rush getting ready. Which for me is most morning even though I make sure the boys school items are ready the night before. I still find myself rushing a little in the morning, anyone else go through this? It is such a great feeling when I can just pull on my favourite denim jeans. Throw on my crisp white shirt which is semi-tucked in at the front, add a pair of shoes or trainers/sneaker and voila! No need to over complicate it, you can’t go wrong with a white shirt and blue jeans.
Starting of with this crisp white shirt with black piping that happens to be from non other than Zara. I have been on the hunt for some new white shirts and came a cross this one. The black piping details, side stripes and the black buttons is what caught my eye and sold the shirt for me. A poplin shirt with long sleeves and collar. I bought an XS and it still has an oversized feel for me and thats what I was hoping for. I decided to tuck mine in at the front but you could also knot-it-up if you want to switch your look.
Next I paired the shirt with my Guess boyfriend jeans in this distressed blue denim. I may have mentioned that I don’t generally wear boyfriend jeans as I find they don’t fit me perfectly. Well they tend to be unflattering for me specially around my waist and derrière. However, these although being loose on me are the closest I have got to wearing a perfect pair of boyfriend jeans. Really loving how they look on me with the white shirt. The jeans have a wide cuff at the hem which adds another dimension to the look.
Now for the accessories and my shoes, I opted for these laser cut open toe shoes from Karen Millen. Such a cute pair of shoes I decided that I would wear them with my trainer/sneaker socks. It works rather well and gives the illusion that I am wearing ankle boots. My PU black baker boy hat is from Topshop and one I wore nearly all winter long and still managing to get some wear out of it now during the Spring months.
Onto my bag and this cute little white bag from Missguided that I purchased around this time last year. The sunglasses are from Hashtag Sunglasses in the Aviator style ‘Absolutely’ and in the colour silver and clear yellow. My current favourite for spring. As for my lipstick I am still loving Lime Crime Velvetines in the colour Teddy Bear. Finishing off my look I went for some white nails courtesy of OPI nails in the colour Alpine Snow.
Here a few more suggestions to wearing a white shirt and blue denim.
White Shirt and Denim Skirt: Another easy combo, whether you go for knee length or a mini. My personal favourite has to be ideally a buttoned, but not necessary, high waisted denim skirt.
White Shirt and Denim Shorts: Of course shorts had to be included in this, we all need in my opinion some shorts we can whip out and wear. Whether you style them down with a white tee and trainers/sneakers or style it up with a shirt and a pair of espadrilles, you can’t go wrong.
