I was so thrilled and honoured to be asked to the Karen Millen AW18 press day at Aisle 8. One of my favourite privileges of blogging and styling is getting that sneak peak of the up coming collection. Checking out the trends and styles and picking the pieces I want ahead of time. So once it hits the stores I know exactly what I want.
Lets set the scene and get started, on a bright but fickle Thursday morning I ventured into central London in my uber. I love going to these events early as it is less crowed and you can take your time looking through the pieces on show.
Arriving at my location at around 10.30am, before venturing up to the second floor of the show room to look at the Karen Millen AW18 collection, I stopped by the first floor. Here they were serving some tea, coffee and soft drinks so I decided to grab my self a cup of tea and browse through some of the other brands which were unveiling their AW18 collection too. Some of the brands were new to me so I decided to browse through them. Also the catering team were going around handing out some very tasty canapés, they were very delicious. I had the most enjoyable time speaking to various people from journalists, to other Karen Millen ambassadors!
Now on to the Karen Millen AW18 Collection…. how exciting. Where shall I begin, they had so many products and all hanging on four racks to be exact. I sifted through each rack and was loving what was on show. I really can’t wait for these beautiful pieces to be in store. So many fresh looks and plenty of my favourite styles which had been given a twist. Of course there was the classic pieces like the coats and jackets that Karen Millen does so well year after year. Their outerwear is always on point for me and this season is no different.
A mixture of luxurious textures, subtle floral prints featured throughout the collection in the form of dresses and playsuits. The first rack I came across was adorned with green hues. I predict we will be seeing a vast amount of green for AW18. This green tone was just earthy and dark and one I can see myself wearing. Second rack had more of a mustard and brown tones on it, this mustard coloured cord skirt caught my eye. Its your classic Karen Millen skirt with the front zip detail. Very similar to the one you may have already seen in blue in their Spring/Summer collection here.
On to the next rack which had lots of maroon and a few red garments mixed in. Although I managed to pick out this white cropped shirt which was obviously calling out to me amongst all the maroon and reds. The sleeves drew me in at first, pleated and slightly sheer with a balloon style. You all may or may not know how much I adore statement sleeve tops and this one was just gorgeous. I could see my self wearing it paired with a high waisted jean or a pair of high waisted trousers.
The final rack had all your resort wear hanging off it. Here there was lots of blues and whites with some patterned coverups and jumpsuits as well as swimsuits and bikinis. Everything you need for a perfect getaway.
Finishing off the collection these embellished shoes are looking like a big hit for AW18. So sparkly with crystals on them and again you can see the green hue running through the accessories too. From the bags to the shoes!
