Celebrating a year with H&M Studio!
So I cannot believe its a year already since I decided to take the plunge and start blogging. I can truly say it is the best decision I have made, I cannot believe how much I have achieved in just a year. Hoping to keep doing what I love and enjoy. Also to see my blog grow and flourish more in the coming year. A massive thank you to all of you for supporting me along the way. So so lucky to have come cross such wonderful people who are very supportive of one another.
I remember thinking when I put up my first blog that my pictures were not that great. Who would want to visit my blog when there are plenty of other bloggers out there with beautiful pictures. My husband told me its your first post and your pictures will get better when you get a better camera so don’t focus on that for now. You see I couldn’t I’m a perfectionist and wanted everything to look great from the outset. I was very reluctant to upload those first few post. But in the end I did post them just so I had some content up and to get me started. When I look back at them they aren’t really that bad considering I took them on my iPhone. After several attempts to get my Nikon camera to take pictures on a timer and failing miserably.
I really wish I had started my journey earlier, but like they say its never too late to start. This past year I have got to work with some amazing brands. The highlight for me was working with Karen Millen as I have been wearing this brand for over twenty years now. Such a pleasure and a dream come true to say the least. I can hand on heart say I am truly happy and content at this stage of my life. I have a new lease of life now after all the years of sleepless night with my babies. This has given me my passion, drive and motivation and most importantly doing something I truly enjoy.
Motherhood is great and I love being a mum but those years when I was sleep deprived were just not fun at all. I mean there are still nights when one of my boys need to use the loo and they have to come and wake us up and let us know! Or the times when they are not well and we have to check on them through out the night. In the end we just let them share our bed because we both were so exhausted after the umpteenth time of getting up. This way it is much easier for us to keep an eye on them. They really are growing up so fast I cannot believe I have an eleven year old who will be turning twelve in September.
As we tell our boys happiness is the key followed by being healthy and safe in life. If you truly enjoy and are happy in what you are doing it will not feel like a chore. So with this in mind I can say that I am so happy to have found this little bit of corner for myself. Trying to enjoy the boys as much as possible and really take notice of the little things they say and do. We all tend to rush in our day to day routine to get things done.
So many of us put so much unnecessary pressures on ourselves. I have been one of those people in the past. Not to say I still don’t rush, I have made a mental note to try and not to, If I’m organised then there is no need for it. Even with the School run I try not to rush, although it is very difficult at times. Being a very punctual person, it is one of my pet peeves being late.
A huge thank you has to go to my husband who has been my driving force behind this blog and to get me started. He had been telling me for years that I should do this as its my passion and I kept putting it off. How right he was, as its my hobby and passion rolled into one. Also if I get to work with amazing brands along the way then that is an added bonus. He also happens to be my photographer and is no way a professional. In trying to help me as much as possible he has bought me a new camera and new lenses too. It takes a lot on his part to make some time for me and take pictures on the weekends as he is very busy himself.
It can be challenging and overwhelming at times trying to fit everything in. With all my other mama duties that I have going on I try not to let that get to me. I absolutely enjoy doing this and therefore so far it does not feel like it is hindering me in any way. Things will go wrong at times and not everything will be perfect. All I would say is that I wish I had a little more time, I guess well wish that right?!!!
My focus for the up coming year is to keep going and enjoy what I am doing. Try and improve on my pictures and blogging as a whole. Also very much looking forward to the year ahead and using everything I have learned so far to see where this takes me. There are some interesting collaborations coming up which I cannot wait to share with you all. It has been a fabulous journey thus far and I am so happy and glad that you are all part of it. Thank thank you so much for all your support along the way. This means a great deal to me and I am so honoured to be a part of this blogging journey with you all. Still cannot believe its a year, here’s to many more years to come!
