Who said Cape’s had to be for superheroes?!!, here I am wearing a cape jumper to show you that it can be worn for an everyday look. I adore cape jackets and coats and when I came across this cape jumper I could not resist.
On Mum Life this week we have been sorting out costumes for World Book Day. We have so many costumes in our house already which we have accumulated over the years. I was hoping they would wear them again without me having to buy new ones this year. At least Zeke has decided to go as the Black Panther again, he went as him last year and with the movie out this year he his still happy and excited to go in that costume.
As for Eli it will be his last year to dress up on World Book Day because next year he will be in the senior school. So no more dress up for him I’m sad to say! He wants to go as Robin Hood this year this was chosen as a last resort as he is not that into dressing up anymore. Oh how they grow up so fast, I remember the days he used to ran around all day in his Batman costume.
Wyatt on the other hand has decided to go as Newt Scamander from Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. His first choice was Thomas from the Maze Runner but the costumes for that were not great. You would not be able to guess who he is dressed up as unless he told you. They are all very much excited and looking forward to Thursday.
Back to my ensemble and my camel cape jumper. This is a…….. wait for it……. Karen Millen piece which I purchased a few seasons a go. It is perfect for spring so I decided to wear this for a day out with the boys to the movies. I absolutely adore the cape detailing and the rolled neck. These are the kinds of clothing pieces I gravitate towards, ones that are slightly different. In this instance this would have been your normal camel knit jumper but because of the cape and the neck detail it just gives it that edge and makes it stand out.
I decided to layer it with my Ted Baker shirt to give me some extra warmth as it is still not that warm in the UK. As I am typing this, it is actually snowing outside and it is -1 degrees. We cannot plan our outfits that well in advance here in the UK as the weather is so unpredictable. Like I was saying before I got sidetracked by the weather. I wore my ecru shirt underneath my cape jumper. The shirt is beautiful with all these buttons on the sleeves and ruffles down the front which you cannot see here of course. Normally I would wear my cape jumper without the shirt.
Next I paired them with my Guess boyfriend jeans as I was going for a casual look. My one and only pair of boyfriend jeans, I am more of a flares and skinny jeans kinda girl. But I have actually loved wearing these and have decided that I may buy a few more. In the distressed style with wide cuffs they are my perfect boyfriend jeans for an everyday casual look. I added a leopard print belt from H&M to tie in with my shoes.
On to the shoes now and I opted for these Dune leopard print shoes. I rarely wear flats as I love my heels but here I thought they worked rather well with this ensemble. A cute pair of loafers that have these satin black laces.
Then I threw my black Zara belt bag across body. A handy little bag that comes in this envelope style and of course its one of those on trend pieces. There are plenty of alternatives on the high street and in high end stores like Gucci to choose from.
For the finishing touches I wore my black Baker Boy hat from TopShop. This comes in the PU Leather and is just a cool hat to wear. Then I put on my Poppy Lissiman red/aubergine Le Skinny sunglasses. These are just up my street when it comes to sunglasses, they just give my overall look an edge. Finishing off the look with red lips courtesy of M.A.C Brick lipliner topped with M.A.C RiRi Woo.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read my blog post. What do you think of the cape style? Do you own a cape? Please do let me know by leaving a message below.

I love this outfit, and also those world book day costumes sound so cute! It’s a real shame about growing up and thinking back to when he’d dress up as Batman, but unfortunately time does tend to move on. A shame I know.
